  • How does your spouse react?

How does your spouse react to medical emergencies at home? My oldest cut his head last night and needed stitches and my hubby called me on the mobile phone in a panic. My oldes broke his arm when he was 3 1/2 (jumping on the bed ), and Thomas stood in our room paralyzed. When I asked him to get ice, he just stared at me and kept saying "what are you talking about?". He couldn't even force himself to visit Alex the entire time that he was in the NICU...

At work, he is totally different. He received an award for his response to "codes" and had no problem dealing with traumas when he was moonlighting in the ER during fellowship. He even enjoys the challenge of these emergency situations...but at home......well...I guess he loses his objectivity. ..does anyone else go through this?

    Kris,

I'm much better than Jory when it comes to emergencies. I've been an ER nurse for the past 10 years, plus I'm a Mom, I can improvise. He is board certified critical care, but he needs a code cart, IV access and meds!!!!!!

We recently went whitewater rafting in West Virginia, and all of the rafters wanted me not Jory in their rafts!!! It was too funny.
