  • Reaching Out!

The American Red Cross is looking for monetary donations. As a group, we have the potential to raise money to donate to this disaster relief fund. One possibility is for each of us to establish a bake sale at the hospitals that our spouses are doing their training at. You may use the Medical Spouse Network as your sponsoring organization. By enlisting the help of friends and other med spouses it is possible to make several hundred dollars in these endeavors. The money could be mailed to Wendy, Kelly or myself for the purpose of a donation to this disaster relief fund.

If you are interested, please contact one of us.

    Sincerely,

    Kris, Kelly, Wendy

Check out PayPal as a way to send money:

      http://www.paypal.com/

This is a very reliable and secure way to send money on-line. The company is very big and many sites use this with their e-commerce including eBay. I highly recommend PayPal being the "techie" in the group.

I have been contacted by a few people about how to start something...what I would suggest is contacting your auxiliary group if you have one...they may be planning something as well. If you don't have an organization like that nearby or are not involved in one, we will be using the Medical Spouse Network as an organization as well.

To set up a bake sale, you should contact the hospital medical education office and they will direct you to the appropriate people. You should be able to set up a date and time for the sale...and most hospitals provide the tables and tablecloths....

For baking you may solicit help from friends and neighbors...we always allowed "store-bought" foods as well. The baked goods are sold at higher prices than would ordinarily be paid, but they are being sold for a good cause and most people understand that....for some of the "craftier" people among us, if you have a week or two before your sale date you can consider getting together with people to make halloween or even Christmas decorations to sell....

The Network will be working towards making a donation by mid-October.....

Again, feel free to email any of us...
