I'm a MAC girl myself (leftover from modeling days), the first thing I always say to the staff though is that I want natural and not trendy....they have a great new soft mascara and the Viva glam lipstick (in support of AIDS) which is nice and fairly sheer....I use Yonka skin care from the spa, but only get it for BD's and Christmas (too pricey for me to buy myself) Cargo is a Canadian line, but is getting big elsewhere and they have great light bronzers and blushes.....(My make up bag was stolen out of our SUV 2 weekends ago, only reason I know names of colors)

I prefer MAC for makeovers. I have been told by a friend who worked for MAC that MAC is the only line, or one of very few, that actually trains their employees to do makeovers. I worked for Arden in Macy's and was doing makeovers my first day!And never received any training except in how to sell their skin care line. This might be different now with some of the more expensive lines (Chanel, Bobbi Brown etc)
Many of the top lines will bring in esticians/professional makeup artists to do makeovers. They are usually available 5-6 times a year. I had a makeover by a specialist brought in by Chanel and it was great! If I were you, I would call around and ask for a times/appointment with a person like that.
OH - yes, MAC is way out there... but if you ask for an every day look that can be adjusted for nighttime, they will stick to the basics.
But again, IMO, the best person to go to is a professional makeup artist, not just the regular staff.

For undereye circles, I use a highlighting pencil (Lola). I think I saw this suggestion on What Not to Wear. Covers everything and doesn't cake like some concealers.
I also love the Nars Multiple...it was someone here (Annie??) that turned me on to it. I use that as blush/eyeshadow in the spring/summer. I love the actual Nars blushes for rest of the year.
I just started using the Lucrece skincare line and, so far, have been very happy with it. It's hard to find, though. An esthetician told me that their eye recovery treatment works really well.
Definitely go out and get a makeover.......even if you don't find anything you like, at least you'll get some YOU time! :@

Another vote for Bare Escentuals. I bought it based on the recommendations here, and I love it! I found that I need to put moisturizer on first for a decent application. It looks so natural and even feels like I'm not wearing any make-up which means I'll actually wear it around the house. (Sally, I did see that they now offer Fair - lighter than Fairly Light. I plan on trying that as well as the bisque you mentioned)
For blush I've been using Nars 'orgasm'(yep, that's the name of the shade.) It is a universally flattering peachy pink color.
Also want to second what Vishenka said about Lancome's shadow quads. Can't fail with those.
A makeover sounds like fun!

This thread rocks. I was feeling a little down today and so I went to the MAC counter on my lunch break and bought two new eyeshadows, a pigment, a blush, and the Studiofix powder. LOVE IT ALL!
I really hope I can keep all this up. The MAC trainer did an awesome job on my eye makeup today!
