  • scammed on eBay???

OK, so I finally got brave and bid for an antique surgical kit for DH for Christmas (we searched EVERY store in Europe back in Sept and couldn't afford anything) I won the auction days ago and have been sending the seller emails to confirm Paypal pymt and to ask how long it will take to ship from Belgium....NO REPLY at all
Please tell me that I'm being paranoid and you have had success and that DH won't be opening a cute rendition of why he has no Christmas present......

I think there is a way to file a complaint with ebay. I'd look into that. Maybe others will have a better suggestion.

I was scammed on an Ebay purchase. It was a magazine subscription. Very clever because I waited the 8-10 weeks to get the magazine -- no record of purchasing it. By that time, the ebay "complaint period" had elapsed and the seller was long gone.

You should be able to get your money back if you paid through paypal. Also, how long has it been? You might be being paranoid.

Thanks Heidi, hopefully I am...I really want to give it to him...I think it's been 4 or 5 days since the auction....how long should I wait before trying to complain?

Much longer than that, I am afraid. They could be on vacation or whatever. They could have mailed it out the next day. Mail from far away may take a while. If you are willing to show me the auction, I might be able to give you a better idea of how worried you should be.

I have had about a hundred eBay transactions and only had issues with two. Both were just miscommunications and I got all my money back in a month because I paid with PayPal. I would just say give it time. If it's a big seller, they may have just accidentally overlooked your email.

I had a similar experience recently with a gift for my fiance. The guy wouldn't get back to me with the cost of shipping. He finally did and I paid but I haven't received the package yet. I'd be just as paranoid too.

First of all I would give the seller a call. You can get their full contact information from eBay. Be aware that when you request that info, eBay emails respective contact info to BOTH seller and buyer. Here's the page where you can get their contact info: http://search.ebay.com/ws/search/AdvSearch?sofindtype=9

Your next step, if you don't hear from the seller, would be to open an Item Not Received or Significantly Not as Described dispute. You can do that after 10 days from the end of the auction, but no more than 60 days. Here's where you can open the dispute: http://feedback.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.d ... ateDispute

Your last resort would be the Paypal Buyer Protection policy. Paypal requires you to attempt to work out the problem before you go to them. You have 45 days to file a dispute with Paypal.

That's what it was called! I wasn't able to do that because it was over 60 days -- the amount of time the subscription would take to start. Grrr. It sounds like you still have plenty of time to get it figured out.
