  • Interview stress for spouse!

I'm so stressed out this week as DH is over in the US doing interviews all over the place, they are so spread out. Plus he is writing both Step 2's next week.
I'm so distracted worrying about the the pressure he must be under and all the flights he has to make, and getting around in strange cities etc etc....
not to mention making a good impression and doing well in the exams!
Its hard not being able to get in touch, we usually text each other through the day but his phone does not work there. He hasnt been able to call since he left. I wish I could have tagged along for support.
    Its so hard!!

We will be thinking about you and your DH- it will be over soon! Where all is he going for interviews? Are you doing to any interviews? I was wondering how many spouses go with on interviews. Just curious! I hope these next couple weeks go by very fast for you!

      thanks lady,
it must be nice to be able to go. I imagine some people might be able to if they are reasonably close, they can be there for support and also take a look around their potential future home.
dh is going to about 10 which I dont think is that high a number, they are just really spread out from E to W coast.
We always used to say that we would go around together, check out the cities together, nice and relaxed!!
of course the reality is i have to work and am long way away!

          Bugs,

Big hug to you. This is a very stressful time but you will get through this. I was CRAZY around 1:00 every day last year to get the report on whether DH liked a place or not. Seriously, I didn't care if I was on the phone with the Pope himself, if I heard the beep, I was like, GOTTA GO! After I got the report, then I went into hyperanalytical mode about whether I could live in a certain locale or not.

The medical lifestyle does not go down easy with an OCD lifestyle.

Please know, that this weird and wild time will come to an end.

            You?

Bugs - I'm sorry, it is SO hard. We've been interviewing over the past 2 months (different level, same stress). Empathy coming your way! I hope you get good news soon.

Bugs, I'm so sorry you couldn't tag along.I'll be thinking of you guys and hopefully you'll get some good news soon.

You know, you could use Skype to call the hotel he's staying at.

DH leaves sunday for a week of 4 interviews. I'm only going to one interview in January which we are extending into a much needed side trip, nice thing is it's the last interview! It is a lot of stress, I'm focusing my stress on realtor.com He also is doing 10 interviews. I'm flying out to NC to check out two towns we are very serious about with my Dad to do the whole neighborhood checkout deal.

                GL!

Big big hugs to you. I am feeling the stress too. We just found out that our #1 (which DH interviewed with during his AI) choice just rejected him bc the new chairman decided to not count those interviews and apparently he didn't make the cut. We're in KC right now. First interview tomorrow, dinner with the residents and spouses tonite. I will be able to go to 3 interviews out of 13. I hope everything is going well for your DH. Hang in there. Take care.

I was so clueless that I didn't even know what it was all about. He was gone on rotations and interviewed then. Of course being military he only had a few choices. I was bummed that I didn't get to Hawaii, though.

Thanks for the support, its nice knowing there are others going thru it too, or have done.

I need to get organised with the skype. I will do in January as he will be doing a clerkship (and a few more interviews) for the month, and will be in one place at least. To be honest I cant keep track of what cities he is in these next couple of weeks and definitely not which hotels!

A least we have Christmas to break it up, I'm flying out so we get to see each other.

Letting the spouse choose a house to buy though, thats some serious trust! I've been waiting for that moment for so long I'd want my 2c worth!

                            Hi Julie,
dh is interviewing at USC (los angeles), Maricopa (phoenix), Emory (atlanta), somewhere in detroit and chicago, rochester (NY), St. Louis, El Paso and Milwaukee.
He is really keen on the one in LA but it is a 2 to 4 program which will mean going to another city for a year. I think that would be unsettling, so I am secretly keeping fingers crossed for one of the others :>
                            What about your dh?
