AKA Military GURU!! So I have a question for you!

What is the reserves like? Good idea/Bad idea? DH is looking into it as a way to provide some financial help during the fellowship next year. I'm of the "forget it. been there. . .done that" camp.

I'm not military, but my Gyn is Army Reserves and he has been to Iraq once, Afghanistan once, and he told me last week that he will probably be going to Afghanistan next year because they are going to triple the medical military facilities there in the next year (his words, not gospel).

Thru the grapevine I've heard the reservists deploy a lot, and for longer amounts of time... Especially in areas like... oh, say... gen surg.

      sorry...

I'd say probably try to take a short term loan or something.

Enjoy your year off, is what I say- it'll not count toward payback so why risk deployment?

Of course we're not military and know squat about it, but what about moonlighting? Is that an option for you guys?

            Re: Jenn!

It's very much frowned upon during training. Like SERIOUSLY not cool. and typically, military docs are licensed one place but are sent someplace else- it doesn't matter because they're military. (my husband is licensed in Indiana because it was the least expensive with the fewest number of CME requirements.)
