The packers packed up their place today!!! Jenn, I told her your story, and she kept a VERY close eye on their two cats. It seems like yesterday they were leaving Boulder and driving to Seattle in the dead of winter!!!

Hi Peggy, I read through this thread and I have a question that I don't think has been answered.
My husband just got some paperwork for our move. We still don't have orders in hand yet, but we had to fill out a moving form listing our home address. The form says that the movers will only move our household goods from the listed address.
We own our house and will be putting it on the market this spring. If (wishful thinking) someone wants to buy it, close on the house before he's done with residency, and won't rent back to us so we can stay in the house, we'll have to move into a short-term rental. Does that mean the military won't pay for the move from the new address?

Did you sell your house before you moved out to California? How did the timing work out?

            Possible solutions:
            1. We have to sell the house before the movers can come, rent a PODS, pack up all our stuff and store it in the crate until the military movers come.
            2. We ask the buyers if we can use our garage to store our stuff until the movers can move it.
            3. We do a DITY move.

Of course, our house might sit on the market all summer and make this a non-issue.
