  • Iraq: Front-Line ER

I put this here, as we got it via a military email, but I am sure that it will be interesting to others if they choose to view it!

An hour-long documentary titled Iraq: Front-Line ER will be broadcast on the Discovery Health Channel Sunday, Nov. 6 at 10 p.m. It will also be broadcast Monday, Nov. 7 at 10 p.m. on the Discovery Military Channel.

MSgt Larry Schneck of the Air Force Entertainment Liaison Office screened the documentary yesterday at our request and found no security concerns or misrepresentation of the military. He said the documentary will be very positive press for the Air Force and the Air Force Theater Hospital at Balad AB, Iraq. He described it as a positive, balanced look at the stresses faced by military physicians in a war zone.

He warned that it is extremely graphic, but warnings are given at the beginning and each commercial break. More than one-third of the show covers the theater hospital, with other segments following select patients through the air evac system to Landstuhl Regional Medical Center in Germany and reunions with families at Walter Reed Army Medical Center.

Our Balad people all delivered positive messages, and the documentary illustrates state of the art care being provided in the war zone to badly wounded warriors. An Army counterpart of MSgt Schneck also screened the video and agreed with his assessment.
