It is Iraq, but Thomas has since learned that US troops that were protecting no-fly zones are moving into Afghanistan, etc and the German Air Force is sending in people to patrol the air/land in the no-fly zones. Thomas is a member of the air force, but we are fortunate that his medical training is likely not to be needed at this time...

We have settled back down into "don't panic" mode again...it feels a bit like a roller coaster. As new things happen, I feel myself beginning to panic...as time passes and he isn't called then I allow myself to relax....

This is a difficult time for everyone, especially military families. My heart truly goes out to all of those families (medical and non-medical alike). I can't imagine what it would be like right now to tell my children that their daddy was leaving for war...I just can't. I can't imagine how difficult it must be for the women who are left at home raising their children alone.......
