Where we stand, now-

Just checking in with everyone to see what your status is with the whole "bombing" thing.



Nothing has changed here- the bases and the Army post are on the same level of security- a few of the docs from one of the Air Force Bases have left for Turkey- but not too many. My husband is at work right now- and he said nothing's changed except people are making sure that if something happens and they are deployed, all their ducks are in a row. this is a little more urgent for the single docs who don't have anyone to pay their bills, etc.



How's things with everyone else?

Jon and I were in San Antonio this last weekend and we didn't find out about the bombings until AFTER I noticed this: On Saturday you could throw a stone and hit five people in uniform walking the streets/in restaraunts/in the movies. But, on Sunday, there wasn't a single uniformed military person ANYWHERE. After I commented on that to Jon, we passed by a tv that showed the bombing. I have to say that I felt pretty darn safe in San Antonio with all of the bases there (and because Jon reassured me that there was a constant supply of jets fueled and ready to take off at the edge of the airstrips on the bases there). I couldn't stand being in the tower of the Americas, though - I just kept getting freaked out by being up so high and imagining what the ground coming at me fast would be like - my husband was genuinly upset with me and told me that if I thought that way then I was letting the terrorists win. Oh well!

The Tower is a little freaky. My husband wanted to go up on Saturday because it was such a nice day and I said "NO" and he laughed at me and that was about it.



But I'm with you 100%. I've never liked tall buildings after I was married to a Firefighter who would conduct building inspections everywhere we went. He comment upon entering our homeymoon hotel in Acapulco? "Well, we're dead if this place burns" (any wonder why he's the ex?!)
