  • Article about SAHDs

Sorry to disturb the silence in here (sometimes I think this board should be in "the morgue" category) - here's an interesting article in last week's ny times about sahds.

Ha...I had to respond! It seems like the men around here have done a good job of integrating themselves into the majority XX masses.

Speaking of articles about SAHD's David..how about an article for the Jan 15 online newsletter about being a SAHD while your wife is a resident? :>

Sorry Kris, not at the moment.
Besides my current time constraints, I don't think that anything I have to say about the medical profession is fit to be put in print right now. Ask me again when I'm not feeling so bitter.

Not a problem I have a great article and poem about the bitterness that another male spouse recently emailed me. He isn't an active poster, but has written articles for us in the past. I'll have to email it to you. :|

Interesting...the main person in the article has the same job title as me- Estate Caretaker (as horns blow royally in the background...no wait, that is just the four-year old playing every musical instrument he owns while marching through the house with the 20mth old "singing" Christmas carols at his heels and I move one pile of clean clothes from the laundry room to the floor of the oldest room- which is where they would end up anyway).

Also interesting and somewhat related to the article, where we are living now I still get the obligatory- 'that's great' when I tell people that I'm a SAHD, but there are many other males around. Of course I am by far the youngest by at least 20-25 years, and most conversations include something about the latest drug prescribed to them.... When trying to connect with playgroups I have found it to be the same, you try and try but mostly nothing materializes....thank goodness I am still fun to play with.

          Sorry I haven't posted in here more.....must...try...harder....

Matt, it's too bad you aren't in KC anymore--there is a community center that we frequent that has toddler activities and some days the SAHD's outnumber the moms!!!
