Well today meets with mixed emotions. First her billi levels are better and we're excited to take her home at 2 this afternoon. Unfortunately though I'm not producing milk and she's been put on formula. We knew this might be a possibility with my PCOS so it wasn't a complete shock but still disappointing. They've got me pumping every three hours to see if it will come in but I've gotten MINOR traces of colostrum the last three pumps. We thought we had beat this b/c she lost very little weight in her first 36 hours but the thought process is that they gave me prolactin (sp?) upon delivery and it stimulated me enough to produce what she ate during that time. However early this morning after I tried to feed for two hours her lips and upper inside mouth were extremely dry so they had me pump and I got nothing. So she is now on formula and we're acting like we're breastfeeding to preserve her latch so that if my milk does come in we don't have to fight her to feed. So we'll see, they say we should know by Tuesday or Wednesday. She has a Peds appointment tomorrow so we'll try to see a lactation consultant then and see if they have any other ideas. I know there are much worse things, she's healthy and happy and we're taking her home.Tags: None
