Follow-up
A follow-up to my last post: I'm going through a lot with my faith right now and that plus the combination that it seems no matter the topic the threads get hostile led to my blog post. I'm realizing a lot about myself and how I lead my life and raise my kids as I lose friends year after year when they move away and I'm afraid my online friends are becoming to much a part of my life to the detriment of friends I see or talk to on a daily basis. My words were probably poorly chosen, that happens often, which was another reason for my post.Tags: None

I understand how you feel. I think every single one of us at some point has contemplated the fact that these relationships (as gratifying as they can be) aren't real life friendships. I know I take regular breaks just to ensure that my social life doesn't revolve around the ... computer.
I don't think that the threads always get hostile, and I'm not even sure that the aforementioned thread was terribly hostile. (Maybe I've been desensitized over the years!) We all come at this journey from different places...in our faith, in the support that we get from family, where we are at in the childrearing years and financially. Each person's experience of residency and fellowship is also very different depending on the aforementioned factors as well as the malignancy of the program that they are in ... As a result, sometimes emotions are high, there are different opinions...and that comes through.
If you need a break, by all means take it...but know that we all value you here as a virtual friend and would hate to see you disappear completely.
