When I mentioned adoption to my mother, she started "placing her order" for a grandbaby. I had to laugh! She told me she wanted a beautiful little Korean girl. This is actually a possibility in my family right now because my sister and her husband have been trying to get preggers for over a year now, and no luck at all. The doctors can't find a single problem (with either of them)! She is more than a little distressed about the fact that I am as fertile as a rabbit but something is different with them. Part of my decision to wait on the next kid has to do with her and her psyche. I feel like if I had another pregnancy right now I would be "thumbing my nose" at her. I know, I know, it is not her decision and SHE wouldn't be the one pregnant, but she is my sister and I feel like I have plenty of time to add to the family so in her interests (and for many other reasons) I'll wait. If they DO adopt, I will be so ecstatic!

Lisa, postpartum depression is an area that has only begun recently to receive any attention by researchers...and is still minimal at best. There is a great website link on the parenthood page if you are ever interested. I suffered from PPD too and it can be really miserable.
