Sophia Grace was born at 10:30 am on Tuesday, January 22. She is beautiful - and I mean that as more than just a parent bragging! She came out looking like a c-section baby - you know big round head with no distortions (she was delivered vaginally btw). She also has a full head of hair and by that I mean it is completely thick all over her head and it almost reaches her shoulders!!!!! THAT was the most surprising thing and people are really astounded by the amount of hair on this kid's head. Luckily there's no hair on the rest of her body . We'd be in real trouble then! She is by far the easiest newborn we've ever had but in retrospect your first is always pretty difficult (I was constantly worried I'd screw my son up for life if I didn't do things just perfectly) and the twins were hard because, well, they're twins. So, she is really a nice change of pace so far (knock on wood). Her labor was easy (love those epidurals) and her delivery was bizarre - I didn't push her out she just slid out on her own - WEIRD! NO EPISIOTOMY!!!! Like I said, this was really, really great! Oh dear, things went so well, I might want another one! Anyway, we're really happy and I am really looking forward to the next hurdle: sleeping through the night! Jon has been so helpful this time around. He has been getting up several times a night to bring Sophia to me to nurse and has managed to take care of the kids, cook, clean the kitchen (and up to MY standards - which are a bit higher than his ), do laundry, run errands (WITH all the older kids in tow), etc. I am amazed!!! He claims it is so much easier to get up in the middle of the night this time around because he is used to only getting two or three hours of sleep on call and being continually woken all night long. One funny thing that happened today: I was in our bedroom on one side of the house nursing the baby before I took a shower (re: lots of milk mess and not exactly modestly dressed). Jon was on the other end of the house talking to his mom and brother who were visiting. I needed his help with something but couldn't walk out there so I paged him! He walked in the bedroom smiling and said, "You paged?" It was kind of funny to us I guess. Anyway, that's the scoop!

WOW!! Let me be the first to say CONGRATS!!! I'm so glad that this L+D went so easily for you....your little girl sounds adorable....all of these baby stories lately have my estrogen levels peaking a bit too!

I can't believe how well the delivery went...you must feel so relieved to have it behind you and finally have her to hold. How are your other angels handling the baby sister? I'll bet they are great with her....

It's wonderful that Jon is being such a help...I hope that his call schedule will allow him to keep it up for awhile!!!!
