Fondest Memories of Med School/Residency

~Spending the night in my husband's call room in Northern Ireland with Andrew when I was pregnant with Amanda.

~Celebrating Thanksgiving/Christmas in the hospital cafeteria: not having to cook and enjoying a nice meal!

~Going to fancy drug dinners with free drinks and desserts!

Med School-
~ being able to travel with Matt to his residency interviews
~ being a practice patient
~ watching Matt & Rich (his best friend who he was in the same med school class) practice physical exam skills on each other (that was funny!)
~ going to Aspen, CO with Matt for his 2nd yr retreat and being able to ski anywhere on the resort for $50, because the CU-Med School paid for everything else.
~ Finding out at a doc appt. that we were expecting immediately following a miscarriage

Internship
~ our first drug rep dinner (it was a week ago!)

-Using the stethoscope to hear our unborn child's heart
-Seeing months of his hard work published
-Knowing that he contemplates giving his dream up for his family
-Having other doctor friends discuss some very personal aspects of the pregnancy and not thinking anything of it

...The night before OMT (osteopathic manipulation therapy) finals when I was the guinea pig and laughing hysterically.

... Russ letting each of the kids use his stethoscope to hear their hearts and watching their eyes light up.

...Realizing how lucky we are to have a great place to live with good friends close by and wonderful, healthy children.

... The day he got his first acceptance letter to medical school and I knew our lives would never be the same.

They were all lined up in their caps and gowns- the military 'brass' were all in their dress uniforms. Each persons name was called- they received their diplomas and then went behind the stage, when they came out- they were all in their dress uniforms. They were then all promoted and then took the Hippocratic oath. It was just so damned patriotic that almost cried.

Residency-

When Rick realized that he was signing on mortgage papers for a house he had seen only once, post-call. (Now that's some trust!)
