I am prefacing this with the information that I am an INSATIABLE reader and will read literally anything -- I also read really fast. Magazines are a definite vice for me.

Here goes: I subscribe to Better Homes and Gardens, Southern Living, Quick Cooking, Redbook, People, Us, U.S. News and World Report, Parenting, and Consumer Reports. I also manage to read Good Housekeeping, Rosie, and Journal about every month. It's terrible, and the worst is trying to figure out what to do with them after I am done with them!

Anytime my husband sees that I have bought a particular magazine once or twice, he tells me to subscribe because it is cheaper than buying it at the grocery store. So I blame him (yeah, that's it) for all of my subscriptions!

          Hmm...very interesting lists.

Jennifer, I can back you up with Martha Stewart, though I've let my subscription lapse now. She does have great recipes.

I read Sunset (feeds my California nostalgia and also has great easy and interesting recipes), the Nation sometimes, American Prospect sometimes, and Hope (a great magazine of good human service stories, reports on interesting work for good project--it was areally nice wedding present from 99). Occasionally in the airport I'll get the Economist to feel internationally aware. At work I flip through Wired and sometimes Fast Company (I work in technology).

Now I'm curious about Food & Wine and Wine Spectator...

Okay, everyonce in a while I'll find an article in JAMA or NEJM that's readable...

I love the idea of replacing cigarettes with magazines...If somehow I could solve my food issues this way...

I, too am an avid reader too who lives far enough from family and friends that magazine subscriptions make great gifts. Here goes....

                      Parents
                      Parenting
                      Child
                      Family Fun
                      Working Mother

                      Self
                      Runners' World
                      Travelocity

                      Good Housekeeping
                      Ladies' Home Journal
                      Oprah

                      Bench and Bar

                      Kelly

O.K. I'll fess up: I've been known to peruse a National Enquirer every now and then too. It is important to know whether Pamela Anderson and Tommy Lee are back together and what Heather Locklear is wearing!
