  • Strep

My daughter has been feverish on and off for a week and last night started having bloody diaherra. We were thinking ecoli or some kind of virus. To our surprise a test at the doctor confirmed it is rectal strep. Has anyone every heard of that? I have not.

So DH says, "yeah - it's dramatic, but it's no big deal." I guess that sounds insensitive, but I just thought his response was funny and so typical. (Remember, it doesn't really get him excited unless a limb is falling off or something). Basically, it's the same as any infectious diarrhea (it's Group B Strep - same as they test women for toward the end of pregnancy). Hope she feels better soon.

        Re: Strep

My ped tested K for it when D came down w Strep. He never had it but D had Strep in his bellybutton once. It cleared w the normal antibiotics.

Oh, get well soon. Sickness is never fun but sickness in summer is sucky. Thinking of you.

The really fun part has been collecting the poop sample if the antibiotics don't work for strep! Haha!

                How's she feeling today?

I've never heard of this before, but it sure sounds like they've got you doing some interesting things ... Collecting poop!
