I love Evangeline and Felicity. Unfortunately DH doesn't. Otherwise I would have used Evangeline as Noelles middle name and Felicity as another girls name.

I have no idea if "Ava-Marie." I think "Ava" is popular, but we call her "Marie" or "Marie Eleanor," anyway.

I recently read that "Matilda" made a list of names NOT to name your girl (too "fuddy duddy"). Who makes such a bitchy list?

"Samuel" is very common, I'd imagine.

Cora's gone from 353 to 276, Hazel's gone from 293 to 262. I think they'll both keep rising, but I hope they stay out of the top 100.

Aubrey was 44th in 2010, but I've never met another Aubrey...but have met a lot of Audrey's. We wanted an easy-to-spell (although people leave out the E), easy-to-pronounce name, fairly common name (so says mom and dad who were #1 and #2 in our birth-year!)

Clearly our girls names are less popular than the boys names but we have yet to meet any other children with our kids names.
That really surprises me. I would think Cordelia would be somewhere in the top 1000 and I grew up knowing a handful of Josephs and quite a few Marks (though some spelled it Marc) Then again, I rarely ever run into another person with my name, maybe a handful and apparently it was in the top 100 when I was born, and is in the top 25 this past year. Who knew.

My sister name her little guy Knox after our great-grandfather. I love the name but everyone thinks it's a Jolie-Pitt name now. I'm guessing that name will be resurrected now.

DS's name (Ryan) is popular and has been for some time with the peak at #11 in the early 90's. It was #17 his birth year (1998) and was 23 in #2010. I still like it, though, and even with its high poularity, we don't run into a ton of other Ryan's or have a lot of issues with him having classmates or teammates with the same name. When we gave him the name, I really thought it would be more of an issue than it has been.

DD's name (Alexia) is much more unique, but she is miscalled Alexis or Alexa frequently. It has become more popular though. It didn't appear on the list at all until the early 1980's. It's peak was #128 in 2002, was #132 her birth year (2004). It was #242 in 2010. Really, though, my name was at the peak of popularity in the 70's when I was born and hit #60, but IRL I rarely ever run into other Heidi's, so I'm thinking that Alexia is pretty unique, and I can NEVER find her name on the personalized stuff.

Like others, our last name is a mouthful, so I wanted fairly easy, short, first names. Alexia, however, is a 4-syllable, 6-letter name. I just loved it though. I still do.

In the year we named our first born Cade, it was listed as "very rare". Now Cade and variations (Caden, Kade) come in as the 329th most popular. Kendall comes in at number 880 and is more commonly used as a boy's name. Quinn ranks at 253.

In this particular phonics theme, I assume Cadel will become popular because of Australian Tour de France winner Cadel Evans. I told my first born that I would have named him Cadel if I had heard of it. He responded that that would have been horrible. DH and I love, love, love the name Connor but it felt too common. I also love the names Nolan, Raife, and Kelsey but couldn't sell my husband on any of those. Can I name any of your kids? LOL

Not sure on the popularity of DS's name: as it is a traditional one, I'm sure it's ranked higher than some.

Those of you who remember DH wanting to name DS after Genghis Khan will love his latest obsession: Sequoia. For a girl. He talks about "her" all the time - bet that's not on a popular name list. *eyeroll*

Yeah, every girl wants to be thought of as gi-fucking-normous. Great idea, Dawkter.

Caleb has hovered between 30 and 40 since 1999, so common enough that it is recognizable, but no so much that there are 7 of him in his class.

Sophie was number 4. Sigh. I really wanted Violet which was 141 the year she was born.

I don't know the ranks, but ive yet to meet anyone my children's ages named Margarita. We do have at least one other Veronica in our homeschool group, but since my Veronica goes by Ella or Luella, there hasn't been any confusion. Garrett is pretty common, but Kenny isn't very common now. In fact, all the Kens and Kennys I know are my age or older.

Our kids all go by nicknames -- Maggie, Ella & Kenny.

I always knew I wanted to name my first daughter Isabella. Growing up in the 80's it wasn't very popular and I got the idea from a character in Days of our Lives. Little did I know that it would rank #28 the year she was born and is now #2! Seriously bums me out!

DD2 is Gabriella (although we've always called her Gracie, which is her middle name). Her name was #76 the year she was born and continues to rise.

If we had a third DD we had always planned to name her Sofia, but now that's extremely popular, so we would probably go with another name. I've always loved Lucia or Luciana.
