  • A gal I went to HS with had the middle name "Bleu". Which was unfortunate. Her boyfriend's last name was Meyer (which is also what everyone called him) so everyone thought it was hysterical that if they married she would be Jessica Bleu Meyer.

    • Yup last night. Blue Ivy. Ivy because of IV, apparently 4 is Beyonce and Jay Z's favorite number. So colors and numbers.

That's Jay-Z's real last name. His real name is Sean Carter, right?

          Blue Ivy Carter.

It's not terrible, there have been waaaaay worse celeb baby names....I'm looking at you Moxie Crimefighter Jilette (this is Penn's daugher from the Penn & Teller magic show in Vegas).

            • Yes, I think we've all heard of those crazy celebrity baby names. At first it was reported as Ivy Blue, which was kind of cute I guess. But I'm a little surprised that's it's now being said that Blue is the first name, but whatever.

              • I always loved Sage as a girl name. It was my secret name lol. DH would never go for that though.

                • Honestly, there is nothing in the world I care less about than what somebody else names their kid. As long as the child is loved and taken care of, why should anybody care about something that does not affect them at all. The whole fascination with names kind of weirds me out. I mean, I love picking out names with my pregnant friends, but the obsession with criticizing other peoples' names kind of bothers me.

                  • We are just talking about crazy celeb names on IMSN. It's really not that serious.

                    • Hahaha oh I know!

I was just referring to the talk of names in general. I just got back from brunch with an incredibly upset (and incredibly pregnant) friend who was told by a girl she worked with that she wasn't allowed to name her kid a certain name because she wanted to name her kid that. Of course it happened to be her boy name of choice. She's hormonal and spent the morning crying into her pancakes, so this thread just struck a chord.

That's so weird. Is the coworker also pregnant? I think the whole "thats my baby name, you can't use it" thing is so funny. First, I don't see why it matters if two people name their kid the same thing. Second, I totally don't understand why people think they can "call" or place dibs on names for kids that haven't been conceived yet.

I've always loved my sister's middle name (its a family name) and mentioned once that I would consider naming a girl said name. She totally freaked out - it was hysterical. Apparently she has first "dibs" on the name because it's her middle name? We'll see which one of us has a girl first, hehehe. (i'm kidding, it probably wouldnt be worth the drama). But at least in this case we are related - our kids probably will interact on occasion. A random coworker... There is no way I would care.

I have a feeling mine wouldn't be so nice (I love her, but she's always been a bit of a brat, lol). If I did use her middle name, I would probably use my other sister's first name as the middle name. That sister would probably be honored, but she has a totally different personality

My DF would almost certainly vote for Team Steele anyway, so this is really a non-issue!

                            • My friend normally wouldn't care. But she's 2 days past her due date and a tiny bit emotional. She's obviously going to go with the name they had already picked. She just had went into a little panic, since hearing a stupid comment like that was not really what she needed today. The purpose of our brunch date today was for me to talk her down.

One of my friends married a girl who disowned her brother for using the baby name she "called". The girl is not, nor never has been pregnant.

I admit to judging the parents of people with stupid names. I just feel sorry for the person, though.
