I didn't get the one about "elective c-section" was she mocking people who get c-sections? Because getting a c-section seems un-crunchy!

Re: pumping. When I WOTH, my office door didn't lock. People used to knock and enter without waiting for a response. Drove. Me. Nuts. I once sent an e-mail to my department:

I used to be very crunchy, now not so much, unless you look in my cupboards.

The sitting rinsing out poopy diapers was me a few years ago. Ha. Until a week after she started solids... then we were back to destroying the landfills.

It's funny how things change. I have some very crunchy friends. I know some VERY crunchy women who have done things like eating placenta. We often get along until they find out that my husband is the King Of Epidurals... lol

I've never nursed in a bathroom, but have nursed in change rooms. not because I wanted to shield the world from breastfeeding, but because I had one of those babies who would crane their neck every which way to not miss a moment of the action. I would go to the high end lingerie stores that had comfortable chairs and sit back there and nurse. The staff were always welcoming about it (I guess they see boobs all day anyway) and it was always quiet and relaxed.

Reminds me of that website, EpicFail, when they post pictures of some American/Western European indulgence, with the caption: "FIRST WORLD PROBLEM." Can't figure out how to discreetly breastfeed in a private stall of a public bathroom of an upscale restaurant? FIRST WORLD PROBLEM. Concerned that your little tike's overpriced Whole Foods rice formula might contain slightly inorganic biproducts? FIRST WORLD PROBLEM. Panicking about the plastic your baby's bottle is made of? FIRST WORLD PROBLEM.

Every time i read a crunchy parenting article, I want to send a copy of it to the website "Stuff White People Do.com" That site is hysterical. It is currently running an article on white people's inexplicable love of berrypicking--as if plucking it yourself is a religious experience that makes the food better...and pointing out that--in all other parts of the world and throughout history--this is considered undesirable manual labor, often done by people enslaved by...white people. Your berries bought in a box and not directly picked off the bush? Really, truly--to most people, this is just not a problem.

But, that being said, to each his own. I am also a big advocate of parenting YOUR way and not caring if others don't get it!
