What do you put in your daughter's hair for product? Up until this point I have always just sprayed A's hair with detangler and brushed it but she has my fine/frizzy hair and after about an hour it looks like a rat nest. She wants to cut it into a bob but MIL would have a cow if we do that before the wedding so we're going to live with it for the next 6 weeks.

So what do you use on your daughter's hair to keep it smooth? She bathes at night and heaven knows we don't have time to bathe and blow dry in the morning...

    Does she use a conditioner?

At bath she uses a shampoo/conditioner combo and in the mornings I spray it with a leave in conditioner just so I can brush it.

I've heard that combos are not good - the shampoo and conditioner work against each other, so neither do the best job they could...

I've had decent luck with the Johnson & Johnson's leave-in detangling conditioner. She bathes at night, and I put the leave-in on her wet hair and comb through and then I blow it dry.

My DD has fairly fine, slightly curly hair. We shampoo maybe 2-3 times a week max, but we use a lot of silicone-free conditioner almost every night. If we need a tidier look in the morning, I dampen it and apply some silicone-free leave-in conditioner (Giovanni brand), then air dry or use a diffuser.

              My mom did this, too.

I wash their hair every other night with silicone-free conditioner only (no shampoo), and in the mornings put a tiny bit of coconut oil in my hands and smooth it over their hair. You have to rub your hands together to melt it, but it makes it smooth and super shiny.

Well I won't offer advice...you've seen my daughter's curls/craziness. We do shampoo, conditioner at night and detangler in the am. The humidity isn't doing our girls any favors!

This is pretty much how I take care of my own curly fine hair.

Why a silicon free conditioner? Will have to look for one of those.

Silicone can build up on hair, and it requires a sulfate shampoo to remove the build up. Unfortunately, sulfates can be very harsh and drying, particularly for curly hair (which I have).

It's a bit pricey, but I love Kinky Curly Knot Today as a silicone free conditioner. I use it as a leave-in for my own hair. I've used it on DD's hair with great detangling results. But, I have a bunch of silicone leave-in to use up, and since I do shampoo her hair, I keep using the silicone on her hair. Her hair is slightly wavy, but straightens easily with a blow dry, so we do that.

I've been using the Suave keratin smoothing shampoo and conditioner. I make my own detangler/leave in conditioner by combining the same conditioner with water in a spray bottle. I use the spray for myself and for my boys' curly hair. Theirs is not as fine as mine.

I use the Jessicurl line for me and my kids. I use the Gentle Lather shampoo on them and the Cleansing Cream on me. The Too Shea conditioner for the girls (me and Phe). The boys hair is too short for me to care about now. . I miss D's curls. I rarely need product for Phe. But for me, I use Rockin' Ringlets and Confident Coils. Phe's hair is finer than mine.

But our curls LOVE the humidity in Florida!

Look for and avoid ingredients ending in -cone, especially dimethicone. In our tub right now we have V05 raspberry conditioner, Nature's Gate jojoba, and Trader Joe's citrus Refresh.

My mom uses silicone products like "Moroccan oil" on DD when she has her. She comes back with silky shiny hair, but it's lank and her cute curls turn into awkward waves. Then it seems to get dirty faster, until we've done almost a week of washes (shampoo washes alternating with conditioner-only). So I can see that those products don't work well with her hair type.
