  • 6 weeks to go

Holy moley....ready or not here she comes. Everything is looking good so far: blood pressure, sugar, heartbeat, fundal height, and the head is engaged south. I've gained 28 pounds so far so it looks like I probably will not meet my goal of staying on the sunny side of a 30 pound weight gain. This is where you all chime in and relate stories of how all of your pregnancy weight, no matter how much you gained, simply *melted* away before you left the hospital. I will be soothed by exaggerations and even bald face lies at this point.

We're excited, nervous, thrilled, freaked out, disconnected from reality, and perplexed as to whether we're truly qualified to do this. I guess that that contemplating this is the same as trying to catch a train that has already left the station.

Ready or not, here comes love and chaos.

I was wondering what was going on with you (two!). Hard to believe you're at the end!!!

        Well, Kelly,

I can't say that *all* my pregnancy weight melted away, but since I gained almost twice what you have gained with all three of my pregnancies, I can safely say that 20 to 25 pounds should go away fairly quickly.

I wish you the very best and I URGE you not to obsess about the future, but just enjoy the next few weeks, and take each day as it comes after your little princess arrives. You will do great.

Oh, yes, Kelly. It was the darndest thing! I actually weighed *less* when I left the hospital than I did before I was pregnant. Good thing, too, as it was just in time for the SI swimsuit cover shot. (Yup, that was me!).

          Feel better?

            Nellie & Kris,

I love you guys! Please pass that crack pipe that you all are smoking on over here!

Seriously, as my MIL says, once you've been lived in, you ain't ever the same. They are so worth the saggy boobs and extra creases in the butt.

            Sally,

Yes, I must just learn to let go once and for all. I'm trying to journal everything so that I can keep this moment alive as long as possible.
I'm grinning as I type. I really can't believe this is going to happen. <insert little impulsive scream of delight>

I actually had much of the same experience. I had to go out and buy all new clothes because my pre-pregnancy stuff was just too big when I got home from the hospital. *sigh* And I think it was all the pushing that really defined my six-pack.

I also can't believe you are almost at the end!!! I am so happy for you. I gained 45 pounds each baby, and it took one week to lose it!!! Best of luck.

Thanks guys! I'm actually still donning maternity swim suits on a regular basis to go swimming with my little guy. No one has shouted "Push her back in!" yet, so I guess that I should breathe a sigh of relief.

I did get one cat call on my nightly walk, however. Some guy in a pickup truck leaned out and yelled, "nice gut!". Thanks, I really must switch to light beer.

                  Getting very excited....

How exciting, Kelly! What is your actual due date? I also was able to wear my prepregnancy pants home. In fact, I was able to wear prepregnancy pant from #1. The second time around you lose the baby weight even quicker. I was also up and running two days after labor. There is the Indy Mini Marathon is May. I am considering signing up. Would you be game?

                      Jenn,

I hear great things about the Indy mini marathon. I have a girlfriend who lives in Seymour, Indiana who runs this every year and she says it is a blast. Before I commit 100%, let me see how training and finances go post baby. I'm always game for a race, it is just traveling to and from races that get tricky. Although I could let my parents, who live an hour and a half away, watch the kiddos.....

Hmmm.....you've peaked my interest. Let's keep this idea in mind.
