we have "we might be giants DVD" and the kids love it...and so do i.

I missed the Philadelphia Chickens craze. I think that was after my kids were "kid music" age. We love TMBGs as well as Trout Fishing in America. I guess that could also be nerdy music but *I don't care*. :nana I still put those discs on when the kid's need cheering up. Great road trip music as well.

Is this normal kid music? When I think of TMBG I think of nerdy white college students. (it's awesome music for kids OR nerdlingtons)

That's funny, I was just talking about this with DH. I also burned copies of TMBG "No" and "Here Come the ABCs", and was telling DH that I thought it was interesting that TMBG made a kids' CD. I was under the impression that TMBG were sort of ... alternative, and he thought that they never really were very mainstream (we bought "Ana Ng" off iTunes and LOVE IT) but that doing a kids' CD is kind of an alternative thing to do.

Love Philadelphia Chickens and Rhinoceros Tap, too! Also big fans of TMBG. My absolute favorite children's musician is Justin Roberts, though....I never get tired of his songs and DS and I love singing along.

For Christmas, DH is making DS a wooden rocking horse. Supposedly he can make it out of one 8' long piece of wood so it's a heck of a lot cheaper than buying one...we'll see how it turns out. :!

We're also giving DS a Kettrike and lots of books. My parents are giving him a water/sand table.

Tara, where or where did you get the Wii???!!! DH has been looking for weeks and keeps missing the new shipments. Did you have to camp out? He is planning on doing that after conference tomorrow to score one

My brother got one the day they came out. He camped out for a short night and that was it!

I should be getting one tomorrow. I got myself on a secret list at Gamestop. Shhhh....they aren't supposed to hold any, but they will for me!! I guess it pays to look pathetic or something.

I hope it pans out. The latest I hear is that Best Buy won't be releasing any Wiis for sale until the 17th for another big sale. Get there REALLY early. Camp out maybe.

Circuit City and Target may have them on the 10th. I have my game plan all mapped out. Word on the street is that Gamestops will be getting shipments tomorrow, Saturday at the latest. Walmart is supposed to have another release possibly on the 17th as well.

There is still time, but I gte more desperate every time we miss out on one. They always seem to be released on a day dh is on call. DH got to Best Buy for the last day they were selling them 2 hours early, and there were already ~50 people in line. Sheesh.

Nintendo's new video game system. A must have for a nearly 9 year old boy.

I hope this helps. It also helps to talk at length with the people who are in the electronics section, be really nice, and you might get some good inside info.

Things to ask:

1. Do you have any Wiis?
2. When might you be getting them in stock?
3. Do you know when you might be releasing any for sale? (Some stores sell 2-3 at a time as they come in, others hoard them for a big sale and release ads in the newspaper.)
4. How many units will you be getting?
5. What time do they go on sale?
6. Will you hand out tickets, and what time will that be?

Our Wal-mart had 9 for December 6th 8 am. At 4 pm the day before there were already 5 people in line camped out. Dh had to work, of course, so there was no way I was getting one of those.

Tara and Heidi, thanks so much for the info! Yup, we have an almost 9 yr old boy here too and that is all he is asking santa for this year (he did ask if santa could bring him $2000 cash)

Hopefully Santa IS bringing $2000 if you have to buy one of those! The games alone would kill me! I get sick paying $20 - $25 for a Leapster game.

Almost 7 year old boy:

-Two lego Star wars kits (I recommend kits of about 100 to 200 pieces at this age. They are about $10-$20 a piece and keep a child occupied for hours).
-Chapter books 1-11 of Sponge Bob Square Pants. (Hey, he's reading, don't critique the material!)
