They've changed the Kirkland wipes, did you know that? I used the old kind for the first month, and now they have a different manufacturer.

Oh no! We just bought a huge case - I hope it's still the old kind. When did they change?

I've only noticed that they come in different packaging. I haven't really paid any attention to anything else. My youngest (at least for two more months) is almost 4 now and I don't have to use wipes as much as I used to. He still poops in his pants (I know, tmi) so I still use wipes on him, but just not has frequently. Perhaps because he is older, I haven't noticed any skin issues.

Once this new baby arrives, I'll probably (hopefully?) pay more attention.

They changed them when dd was a few weeks old (mid-September). They're thicker and drier than the old ones, from what I can tell. Great for explosive poops, but a sensitive tushie doesn't like them.

I'm w/Tara. When they are red, rashy or worse(blistered/broken skin) I will NEVER EVER use any type of wipe unless you have rinsed & squeezed them out several times. I get eczema on my right hand,from time to time, and let me tell you even the sensitive brands can sting my finger...no wonder little ones fuss & /or scream when they are irritated & we clean w/ those. I mean really they are known to be make up removers/solvents as well as stain removers...so they must have something in them that's pretty strong? I buy bulk cheapy white wash cloths and use them for this. I make sure to launder them w/clear detergent & no fab softener...I make sure they have been rinsed out w/plenty of cool water; I find the cool water to be more soothing when their butts are inflamed.

With a raw bum, I use those circle cotton makeup pads with warm water.

I always liked the lansinoh wipes. But I guess they are kinda slimy. I have a pack of target wipes that seem pretty soft.

I really like the Huggies sensitive skin wipe. All the pampers ones goss me out, they are just kind of slimy (IMO). But when I am dealing with a diaper rash I do only wash cloths with warm water, or if I only have a wipe available I will rinse it out with warm water and then use that. Then follow with a generous slathering of triple paste (they say not to use it with cloth diapers but I have never had a problem). So sorry about her bottom.

ditto. this is what I've done in the past. I must say that I prefer the Huggies ones now--- that's pretty much all we use.

I'd been using Huggies FOREVER until several months ago when I switched to Target wipes. I LOVE the Target wipes! They are super soft and smell so good (if you get the scented ones). They feel like cloth! I had used Target wipes a LONG time ago and don't remember really liking them. They must have changed they way they make them because they now are the best wipes I've used! And, as you can imagine with 5 kids, I've gone through MANY MANY MANY wipes...and am still using them.

Ds#2 has a sensitive rear and I almost always use cloth wipes...even out and about. Especially if you are using cloth diapers it is easier. I just run it under the water first. I've gotten a strange look or two in the ladies room, but what can you do?Em would wiggle and fight poopy diaper changes, but with the cloth wipes he stays put...I didn't even know that was why he squirmed (no rashy skin)!

Just to add...I still always carry Kirkland wipes (I love how easy they are to carry around) for handiness, but anything that doesn't need wetness gets a cloth wipe.

Dd doesn't have diaper rash; it's more that I can see that her butt is pretty sensitive to the Kirkland wipes. Dh thinks the Mustela ones work the best, but at $7/pack there's no way! Or maybe just on special occasions.

My daughter is 4.5 months old, and about 8 out of 10 times, she successfully rolls from her back onto her stomach. She tries to do this trick on the changing table now, and it freaks me out.

I changed her on the floor today. She gave a good (but failed) attempt at rolling onto her stomach, and rolled back onto her back right into her own shit.

This girl is nothing but heartache, I tell ya.

Oh man...Em would get poop everywhere in his fight away from the change...for a while I was changing him only on the bathroom floor so I could just wipe the tile down when we were done!

$7 a pack!!! Yikes!!! I hope you find something you like that doesn't break the bank!

LOVE the Mustela wipes. I used them for the first month with babies 3, 4, and 5. After that they were too expensive, but I agree that they are great for sensitive skin.

For my sensitive bum children, I'll put vaseline thick on their bottoms after a diaper change. I only do this at night for J b/c she's not rash-prone, but I remember doing it for all the others.

None of my kids have been able to tolerate diaper rash cream, either. So if you do have a diaper rash ever (I know this isn't your problem right now) try a trial pack of the diaper rash cream before buying the whole tube!

The ER prescribed Diaper rash cream (according to my dad- things may have changed in the last 10 yrs) is a mixture of equal parts hydrocortisone (1% is ok for babies older than 3 months or so) and clotrimazole-- both ointments are OTC and avail super cheap thru costco...

That's just a FYI... I don't know if many people have the sensitivity to the chemical in the diaper rash ointment-- my kids appear to be allergic to the active ingredient. Zinc maybe? Can't remember.

Anyway...

Diaper changing only gets more and more exciting as they get more and more mobile!!!

Taking notes. BJ's is having a baby promo month (mid Jan-mid Feb), so I think I'll start with Huggies wipes.

Looks like we're in the minority but I only use Pampers unscented natural aloe wipes. When DD1 was born we used Pampers Sensitive b/c we were given them at her shower and then tried all other brands. Unfortunately, every other brand that we've tried would cause her to get a horrible diaper rash even if it was the sensitive type with aloe. The same thing happened with DD2. So we have to use Pampers and I agree they are thin and slimy. If I had the choice I would definitely use something else.
