Sorry it's been so hard for you both. Hugs. But it's the right thing to do; the last thing you want is to be resentful of the nursing.

I ended up weaning completely soon after you posted this originally. Jack was exactly the same age that Oscar is now. We were down to just nursing to sleep (at bedtime only, he had already stopped napping) and I got guilt tripped by the dentist because he had a cavity. So I used it as an excuse. Told him it was bad for his teeth and he accepted it from the first night. I was very fortunate that it was so easy. I was ready to stop because I was newly pregnant and feeling like crap, and I guess he was ready too. We replaced the nursing with hugs and either DH or I still lie down with him to go to sleep. And we still co-sleep!

J also starting eating well for the first time after I weaned him!!

Thanks for the info - we'll get there at some point I suppose. For right now, I don't mind it -- I know at some point, I'll be ready to tackle the challenge.

Anyway, I'm glad you were able to find a way to wean - it sounds like he is adapting pretty well!
