My solution...close your eyes when they are doing it. I was a germ-a-phobe as well but I am glad that he has gotten the little sicknesses here and there. It will make him stronger in the future.

If stuff hit the floor, what I did depended on whose floor it was- if it was my mothers floor- I would be fine. If it was McDonalds? I'd stick it in the diaper bag to come home and get cleaned in the dishwasher.

As for the money/bread/money thing? Money is just gross but we all touch it all day- I buy stuff from the vending machine and don't run to the ladies room to wash my hands before I dig in to the salsa chips. Unless it's boogers (which just gross me out because green slime is gross) or poop, I'm pretty non-plussed by the ick.

Bottom line, you have to do what you are comfortable with. We are just giving you our different personal levels of "gross tolerance"!!!!

Mrs. Meyers doesn't make anything antibacterial (I love that stuff)--so one less thing to worry about!

FWIW, when BabyK sees the dog moving in for a kiss, he opens his mouth extra wide. DrK keeps telling him, "Don't do that! She's not your girlfriend!"

That reminds me of our old lab, who was at the perfect height for whacking things off the coffee table with his tail.

I'll get over it. I was sitting with dd on the floor, and talking on the phone. I looked down well into the conversation, and noticed that she had been licking and chewing the top of my slippers the whole time. Making progress!!

Someone once asked DH and me what "theory" of childrearing we ascribed to. Unwilling to admit his (our) ignorance as to the fact that there are many theories and what they are, DH quickly replied, "The Theory of Antigen Presentation."

We didn't get invited back to that playgroup!! hahahaha...

Seriously, this is our six-factored standard on germs: wash up before you eat, wash up after you go to the bathroom, don't sneeze on people, cover your mouth when you cough, don't play with Dad's surgical shoes, and do not pick food out of the trash (especially not two-day-old tubs of half-eaten peach yogurt--that's a very specific example...).
