We actually don't have a crib sheet problem - I have these covers that snap to the rails, so I just unsnap it and put another one down, I don't ever have to change the sheet.

That way, in the middle of the night, you just pull of a crib sheet and rubber sheet, and the bed is made. Learned this once I figured out that kids only seem to vomit in the middle of the night
      We do this too.

This was the single best parenting tip my sister gave me. I still do it for my 7 year old, albeit with twin sheets.

I second Michele's advice about making sure that access to the pecker is limited. I have no idea what's so fascinating about them but apparently it's the funnest thing ever in the universe. My husband says I'd understand if I had one.

not to beat a dead horse but a snap crotch onesie totally limits access
BTW I never (w/4 kids) had a child that got into their own dirty diaper & messed w/their poo.

I just finished cleaning up a 2yo boy who stuck his hands in his dirty diaper and smeared it all over his clothing. (Fortunately he came running up to me holding his hands out saying, "Mama! Dirty hands!" so I don't think it got anywhere else...) I normally keep a onesie on him at all times because - if I don't - he likes to stick his hands in his diaper and pull his penis out. He then leaves it out and ends up peeing everywhere. DS#1 never did this, so this is all new to me too!

Yikes Jane!! I hope for your sake he didn't touch anything else.
The yuckiest messes I ever had to deal with, were the up the back blow outs but @ least they were contained w/in the onsie!

                    Re: Boy diaper question

Where do you get onesies for larger than 24 months? Kai is in the Gerber 24 month tank onesies. But he won't fit in them much longer. He also picks at his belly button (besides the penis fascination). So I definitely need to keep one on him.

I don't have a boy, but I don't change DD's diaper for about 10 hours and have stopped having problems once she stopped pooping at night. I'm still using Pampers though (without problems so far). I also make sure to have a onsie on her at all times. Didn't realize it helps to keep diaper in place but that was a good pointer. Her diaper weighs almost as much as her in the morning but it doesn't leak, not sure if it's a boy/girl issue.

I have always found Gerber as well as other maker's onsies @ Kidsurplus.com.
just make sure when you do a search you use words like "bodysuit" or "snap crotch undershirt".
One step ahead also sells a pack of various size snap extenders to fit different brands...they help when your little ones start to out grow them.

If anyone wants a package of those extenders let me know. If I still have them I'll send them to you - I could never get them to work.
