That's how our bathroom was at our other house....I just kept them out of the room...but we did bathe them there because it was bigger and easier. I used to strap them in highchairs in front of the tv when I got ready in the mornings. Worked for us until D broke his and then would get K out....D was about 3 then.

BabyK has been taking his highchair apart since he was 6 months. I cannot leave him in it unsupervised.

Told you that he's handy. He got the McGyver gene from my father and brother. My brother was taking apart small household appliances by the time he was 2.

I was telling my sister about BabyK this morning (she is the mother of 4 and her youngest is Evel Kneivel incarnate) and her reaction? Thank GAWD there is someone out there who has a harder baby than me! It was pretty funny!

LOL. I never thought of him as a "hard" baby because he has such an easy temperment. But I'm definitely having a difficult time with this active discovery phase and I'll be fit to be tied when he disassembles our toaster and I find it in 40 pieces under his bed.

Put him in one of those exersaucers- that usually bought me about 15 minutes.

                    J.

We also had baby jail- you can buy free-standing gates that connect in an octagonal shape. They're too tall to get over and too heavy to flip. They are on amazon.com

He won't do the exersaucer anymore. He must have learned that from Moxie. If I put him in the exersaucer or a play pen filled with new toys, he freaks out pretty much just like Moxie does when I shut the door to her crate. There is a lot of screaming and daring escape attempts. Or maybe he got that one from my brother too; my brother made a "door" in his playpen and used to routinely escape and wander the house. Too bad because BabyK used to love the exersaucer. I've been thinking of hiding it for a while and then maybe re-introducing it as a novelty.

BTW, today I just let him play with the cold water tap (the one he can reach) while I dressed. He's learned how to turn it off now too. So I was telling him to "stop the water" when he turned the tap on and praising him every time he turned the water off. Maybe he'll loose interest?

BTW, would you believe that my SIL's sister just put a piece of tape on the floor across the entry of her dining room and told her toddler that she was not allowed to cross the tape. . . and it worked?!

My only suggestion would be a baby gate. We've used the first years hand free gate & it works well. It's a simple design but takes 60lbs of pressure to open. So eventhough O knew how it worked he couldn't open it. The drawback would be that you probably couldn't close your bathroom door.

I KNOW that wouldn't work with S. She is way to wild for that! Caleb? Maybe...

My kids liked those jumpers that hang from door frames for about 10 minutes.

We just took the stair gate down because the 17 month old would walk to the side of the stairs and undo it. We tried to reinforce the gate with a bungee chord which he promptly removed before scaling the stair case. He is the biggest climber of my three kids. He falls down and gets right back up. My personal favorite feat is scaling the stairs on the outside of the banister. I'm sure he will have a fantastic career as a stuntman.

DS also has learned to turn on our faucets. I walk into the master bath and the water is running. What is really bad is now the older kids have legos and petshops lying about. This is one reason why I figure I'll let him keep the paci a bit longer. Maybe as long as his mouth is satisfied he'll keep the choking hazards out. (fingers crossed anyway).

                              Anyway, just commiserating with you...
