Disposable Overnight Diapers

I tried Huggies overnights and they also filled up too much and didn't hold as well. Pamper overnights seem to hold more and keep her drier. It's a $1 more per box here.

Sort of off topic, but has anyone tried Huggies Organic cotton natural diaper? Oh it's SO SOFT and reminds me of Pampers Swadlers! I guess the organic cotton doesn't hold as well. DD peed right through the diaper! Otherwise we would have changed over to those.

I use Seventh Generation (same idea) -- I rarely have leaks (never overnight -- just during the day when I've been lax).

I'm revisiting this. BabyK is 25 months old. He weighs 30+ lbs and wears a size 6 disposable diaper. I think that's the largest size made. He wakes up soaked from head-to- toe. My understanding is that the pull-ups get cold when he wets and the Goodnights are for kids bigger than he is. What do you suggest? I'm tired of wet sheets.

Have you tried having him sit on the potty before bed? Changing him before you go to bed (not gonna work if he's a light sleeper). Is the size 6 too big, leaking around the legs maybe? Huggies overnights were always the best for my DS.

He's not potty trained. We bathe him before bed. Last night, he tried to use the potty and peed in the bath instead. At least he went before bed. He sleeps at least 10 hours. I know the size 6

Anyway, size 6 is not too big. The diapers are bursting open and the stuffing is leaking out in the mornings.

I would restrict his liquids after 6 pm. Pump him full of fluids during the day but cut him off to just an ounce or so after dinner.

He doesn't get anything after dinner but he goes to bed within an hour after dinner. He's still drinking about 3 cups of milk at every meal. (He's killing me. We go through about 5 gallons weekly.)

That is waaaaaay more than is "recommended", I was told no more than 24 oz daily. Have you asked your ped why he might be so thirsty? Is it habit?

Does three cups of milk translate to 24 oz of milk at every meal? If he is really drinking 72oz of milk per day he is at risk for milk-fed anemia. Basically too much milk interfers with iron absorbtion and some children get small bleeds in their GI contributing to the problem. Toddlers should have 24oz per day and not much more than 36 oz. I know this doesn't fix the diaper problem but as a mom who has been down this road with child #3 you really need to replace some of that milk with another beverage if he is infact getting 3 times the rec. amount of milk.

I've mentioned to our ped and he hasn't been concerned. I think it's about 12-18 oz per meal and he drinks milk at snacks. Once in a while, I cut it with water and he's drinking skim milk. Thanks for the head's up though. I'll ask the ped again.

This thread along with the biting is waving a red flag to me. Has BabyK had his ferritin levels checked? A high dairy intake can absolutely lead to low iron absorption. When DS had low ferritin, a lot of his symptoms included impulsive type behavior and the doc who figured it out said he has found tons of kids with similar issues that resolve once the iron is sorted out. we saw another doc who said he never would have tested for it because our DS's behavior was typically so great, but when they did, his levels were drastically low. Iron supplements made a huge difference! His started around age 2 1/2 when he became picky and ate yogurt at almost every meal.

And this is the reason I love this board so much. I would have never tied together the biting and milk consumption, they seem so unrelated.

Interesting. I'll look into it. I've been giving him a daily multivitamin (notwithstanding that our ped did not think it was necessary) but I guess he wouldn't reap the benefits of it if he is not absorbing iron.

His behaviour has improved since K2 started day care (allowing for more one-on-one time for me and BabyK) and we've begun behavioural therapy. Also, since he moved into the 2yo class 3 weeks ago, he has not had any biting incidents at school and the teachers who even told me that he shares well. He generally does well with kids who communicate better than he does.

I'll discuss this theory with DrK tonight.

I should clarify - when my DS was treated, it had to be with liquid prescription because his levels were so low, and he was on it for almost two years before he came back to the "normal" range, even with supplementation and hanging his diet. He never developed a specific behavior, but would just have extreme meltdowns o have unpredictable impulses. I just think it might all fit together to get you some solutions.
