My supply dropped with pumping tbh. Nothing did it for my supply like the actual baby....I was jealous of people who had success with pumping...

Nipple Shields and Breastfeeding

Well my supply is back but any progress we made in the past few weeks is gone. It was so painful and frustrating without the shield that I ended up using it more and more again. Now she is definitely nipple confused and will hardly ever latch on without the shield anymore...she can't "find" it. With the shield it is becoming more painful and really inefficient. She dribbles everywhere. She's still getting enough but I don't know what the heck to do besides just suffer through it and hope she magically gets better with time. I went to a LLL meeting tonight to try and get ideas and I've tried everything they mentioned.
The only thing I can think of is that she has a mild case of thrush, which would explain the increased pain for me and the weird back tracking for her. I'm going to ask the ped next week. I don't think that is it though.
I'm so pissed I ever took that stupid shield without trying harder without it first.Married to a newly minted Pediatric Rad, momma to a sweet girl and a bunch of (mostly) cute boy monsters.

Oh no! I'm so sorry.I never had that much trouble with it, or I wouldn't have told you it was fine to use. Have you tried a different brand? I know you said at first she wouldn't take Medela, but she's older now, so she might. Also, they sell different sizes, so maybe it's not the best fit for you?

So sorry to hear about your frustrations! I agree that you should look into more LCs or whatever Thirteen has to offer. I was reading this blog the other day and one of the commenters said she went to 3 lactation consultants until someone could help her:

We've been using Medela. I have a couple different sizes and types and they have the same result. Honestly I think it is more a behavioral issue on her part more than anything now. Half the time she tries to pull away as she is trying to latch on/eat and gets frustrated. Maybe she is broken?
Another LC might be a good idea. I hate to keep throwing more money at this though.Married to a newly minted Pediatric Rad, momma to a sweet girl and a bunch of (mostly) cute boy monsters.
