We got the TJMaxx trumpet te socks but even they are too big for my 9 lb whopper. Actually even some newborn size onesies are. Who would have guessed!

The socks that are staying on the best are the plain white ones from Target.

I do wish I had bought more than one pair of newborn size baby legs .

Finally, the most essential item so far? No scratch mittens. Her nails are ridic and they keep her from looking like she's been mauled by a cat. In the hospital they said they wish more parents would bring them. They don't have any and told me they don't even have nail clippers. We were also told to wait 10 days to clip her nails or we would draw blood but filing is fine. Might be total crap though. Either way, some how I just havent found time to give my newborn a manicure though!

FWIW they did last my two kids for about 7-8 months each.

are you saying you have about 20 short sleave onesies and 3 or 4 long sleave sleeper onesies? Or are you saying you have 3 or 4 footless sleeper sacks? I never knew the name of those things! LOL!

20 short sleeve onesies and 3 or 4 long sleeve sleeper onesies. I have one sleep sack thing.

Looks like I should go to TJMaxx/BRU this weekend for some socks!

I like the Target socks. Even with A's tiny feet (still not a 0), they have never fallen off. I also like the little "dresses" for nighttime (they have elastic on the bottom). My issuer with the zipper sleepers is that they bunch (think about a pair of pants when you sit down). They sometimes would distract A while nursing

I would buy two more long sleave onsies, a warm materal type. Just because it's winter and sometimes you have a drafty room and never really thought about it until a baby in a spot that was once occupied by a house plant. I loved the sleeper sacks, had 2, wished I had a couple more. But with the sack you will use a short sleve onsie under and need those socks as well. You might can tell I follow all the "rules" about double layers and never useing blankets while baby was sleeping in her bed. DD had a milk alergy... it was coming out both ends like no other when we got her home... I could go through three onesie changes in a day!

Thanks moonlight - will do. We definitely have a drafty apartment and Cleveland is SO cold in the winter. THANKS! If anyone else can think of things I've missed, please chime in!!

Does anyone shop Zulily? I get a lot of baby gifts for my godchild and friends there - that's one of the only two (TJ Maxx being the second) places I buy the Trumpette socks, but from what I hear - they are fantastic. And I like the little patterns! I think the retail price is outrageous though.

I have but Zulily hasn't had the socks for a while. Do you know how often they go on sale?

I know you are trying to be prepared, but just to throw out a word of caution. I was glad I waited to really stock up because unlike others, our unique little critter (1) did not have a bunching problem with the zippered sleepers, (2) hated the sleep sacks with a passion (3) could not stand to be swaddled... etc. My point here is that every baby has different preferences and if you "stock up" you may end up with a drawer full of xyz that the baby refuses to like (like swaddle blankets which people gave me because "they work so well"). Just something to keep in mind.

Except burp cloths and thin blankets. Get a bunch of those!! (I used the blankets to create a barrier anywhere I didn't want to set the baby down... like while changing, on the floor, whatever, they were handy)

I last ordered the socks from Zulily 11/30. So, I'd guess another 6 weeks - they seem to rotate a lot of the same brands. Totsy is another similar site that has had them.

                              You people are actual GENIUSES.

Just back from TJMaxx with 2 boxes of Trumpettes (gender neutral to boot!) that were $5/box. They had more but I restrained myself. Plus a couple more footed sleepers and some baby mitten-type things to prevent baby from scratching itself. Seriously, as usual, you guys blow me away...

I love the footed sleepers! I still use them for DS. We've been using the gowns for DD, just because that's what we got as gifts, and they're nice for overnight diaper changes. I don't layer a onesie under their pajamas, but we keep our house a pretty constant temperature year-round. I probably will start if/when DS starts taking off his diaper.
