  • Girl Baby Bathing Suits

The girl bathing suits that have a crotch snap (like a onesie) are for sale on babysteals[dot]com. I already know I do not want to be wrestling my wiggle worm in and out of a bathing suit plus a swim diaper.

Yeah, I ordered 12-18 months (it says they run small) for DD who won't be 12 months until January...

I used to buy dd Jack and Janie swimsuits for photo ops. They are darling. And then I moved on to Hanna Anderson ones. We were living in California, and went to the pool all the time. I spent a small fortune on them--babies are so cute in swim gear!
By now I go to Target--they have nice ones with SPF. And now that I'm a seasoned mom, dd runs around in just a swim diaper.

dd has a one-piece and a two-piece. I wish I knew something as cool as a suit with snaps was out there!

As far as swim diapers, what do you recommend for my 26", 14.5# baby - disposable or reusable?

I know I don't have a DD, but... We just put DS in a rash guard and board shorts. Less areas for burning, and keeps him warm.

We do this w/dd or we use a warmbelly wetsuit.

Cassy - my friends with pools do that! It's not like they absorb urine anyway.

Okay, here's a question about cloth swim diapers... I bought them for my kids this year, and I've run into the problem of everyone getting their kids ready for the pool, but letting them play in the yard for awhile first. Is it okay to use a doubler in the swim diaper? DS is a heavy wetter, and he was drenched before he got into the pool. Or should I just wait until everyone else starts getting in, and then put his swim diaper on?

Excellent question! Can someone pro/con them for us?

Also, why is my daughter bigger than yours? I seriously think she got NONE of my genes...

I did disposable last year, but there's a splash park near our new house, and I'd be buying two different sizes, so I went with reusable.

                        Disposable Pros:
                        - No real clean up (except poop is a little harder to deal with than in regular disposables; just tear the diaper off)
                        - Possibly cheaper (if you're not going to use more than one package of diapers)
                        - A little bit absorbent - see my question above

                        Cloth Pros:
                        - Cheaper if you'll be using more than one package of swim diapers
                        - So cute!
                        - Easier to take off if there is a poop

I haven't used cloth ones for long, so feel free to add to my list.

Phe is pretty darn small too!

I have both cloth and disposable swim diapers. I like the cloth better but I don't have poopy kids. My swim diaper is an Imse Vimse...I have two sizes. It snaps only on one side which would be a pain with poop. It really just feels like a bathing suit bottom. The disposable swim diapers are just like pullups but non-absorbent.

I always leave my kids in a regular diaper until the last minute and then change into the swim diaper. For Kai that means diaper with underwear over and swim trunks over that. Pull diaper off before swimming. For Phedre that means diaper then swim suit. When ready to swim, change out diapers and redress with swim suit. Kind of a pain, but she doesn't really swim. And neither does Kai. I'd rather do the change out than deal with pee everywhere.

For general outside water/yard play, I let Kai be diaper-less and pee where he is. Phedre I leave in a diaper and when it gets too sodden, I change it.

We use cloth diapers so I just picked out one of our more worn BumGenius and use that without an insert. I got the idea from their website. Works great so a far, but I always wait till the last second to change ds into it.
