I haven't carried one in a few years but off all the ones I had the Skip Hop Studio was always my favorite.

I have a Petunia Pickle Bottom that I LOVE and meets all your criteria. I potty trained C so I could fit everything though. It's not big enough for two kids in diapers (which fits your life too).

Oh wow! C is done with diapers?!

I had a Petunia Pickle Bottom that was shaped like a "C" and the zipper broke almost immediately. Nordstrom replaced it, but my next one had a weak zipper too. Maybe it was the shape of it? Maybe I was too rough with it?

            Thanks for the leads, guys!

Yes, she's done with diapers. She sleeps in a pull-up but is otherwise done. We've only had one accident in the last two weeks (we started in mid-Jan) so I'm declaring it a success. The kid poops 3x a day so it was brutal in the short-term but she got it pretty quickly since she had so many reps. Plus, she's very food motivated so the chocolate covered raisins sealed the deal.

Got my Petunia Pickle Bottom at Nordstorm's too. I love it. It's been really sturdy and is actually somewhat stylish looking as well. I cram it full of stuff - it's always overflowing and it's held up well.

For what it's worth, I adore my Storksack. Two babies later and it still looks perfect. It is so purse like that it does crack me up seeing DH with it, though. He has no shame and carries it regardless.

I have no horse in this race, and have no idea what's good out there. I just wanted to say, 10 years out from babies, and all the products are completely foreign! I could never afford nice things when my kids were babies. Ryan often used a laundry hamper as a bassinet, but I wish I could buy and try some of the fun things out now. Makes my ovaries ache. I have no uterus though, so that's the problem. I am done, but I just get these twinges of longing every now and again.

                    Carry on.

I think I'll get on etsy and find something super adorable for my niece.

Heidi, you're raising 2 wonderfully smart and compassionate kids. There is no correlation between cute baby stuff and great kids!!!

                          Must-haves for babies?

LOL. I'm okay. Thanks Alison. I'm 99% okay with not having anymore kids, and I do look forward to having grandkids in the future.

I'm laughing because you said I'm raising two compassionate kids. Smart yes, but compassionate, I'm not so sure. My son definitely is. No doubt. With my daughter, sometimes I think I'm raising a future dictator. Her world-view has always been very self-centered. She's smart as hell, but there's an evil streak in her.

Last night we were cooking live lobsters. She named them, and then she asked fervently, if she could watch them curl up and die in the steam. She was very interested in it.

She loves pointing out when others are wrong. Her teacher was talking about the telescope and how in was invented by Galileo. My nearly ten-year old daughter interjected, "Actually, Galileo merely improved the telescope. No one knows for certain who the first inventor actually was, but some speculate it may have been Hans Lippershey though other scientists sometimes take credit for it." She revels in this stuff. She's a great kid, but I wouldn't count compassion as one of her talents.

                            1. Diapers
                            2. Wipes
                            3. Diaper rash cream
                            4. Equipment if you B/F; bottles and formula if you don't
                            5. Swaddling cloths
                            6. Carseat if you plan to drive
                            7. Cheap onesies (they often leak poo on them--don't buy fancy)
                            8. A stroller than doesn't hurt your back and folds into your car
                            9. Simple crib and basic sheets (I used a cheap portable crib for my last three)
                            10. Margaritas (for you, not baby)

**Note: new gadgets just ain't that important, is my experience.

Oh…and a BELLA BAND. LOVE LOVE LOVE Bella Bands. But, again, like the margaritas--not recommended for use on Baby.

Top Ten Things I Have Never Owned:

                            1. A baby monitor
                            2. A baby washtub
                            3. Wipe warming machine (I am convinced this was invented as a metaphor for modern-day parenting)
                            4. Anything organic that the kid will poop on
                            5. Anything organic that the kid will eat (yeah, I am not paying more per meal for the kid than I spend on myself)
                            6. Anything that a movie star's nanny is using to stroll the kid around in
                            7. Anything that is labeled "Mozart" or "Einstein"
                            8. Anything that includes Barney, TeloTubby, or Wiggles…or anything purple, actually.
                            9. Anything that involves dressing up my little boy in a sailor suit
                            10. Anything that involves dressing up my daughters in snotty or pornographic messaging (such as onesies reading, "When I grow up, I'll be a MILF")

If you want to try a baby carrier look into these. I use each of these and they are all light weight and not hot IMO. DH especially likes the Boba because it folds up into a tiny pouch and is very light weight.
I have yet to use a stroller with Baby Girl.
