  • Keeping Hat & Mittens On a Toddler

Anyone have any tips on keeping a hat and mittens on a 15 month old who HATES wearing anything on his head or hands?

Get a helmet hat, it's pretty impossible to take off, I'll try to find a pic online. Don't have any mittens advice, mine wouldn't wear them until 2.5.

These are the gloves I got my kids when we lived in MN, they didn't really have a choice then because they couldn't get them off! Hah!

We liked fold-over sleeves. I don't know why they aren't easier to find.

I'm loving these ideas. Growing up in California we never had to worry about this stuff!

Where did you buy your helmet hat? I really like that one.

Do mittens that go over the elbow work better than the ones on a string?

I think so, I always had a hard time keeping the string from getting tangled.

My boys wear hats that look like monsters, puppies, viking helmets. ..anything costume like.

Years ago REI sold clips called "mitten cats" or something like that. My kids mostly left them alone.

Now I buy 10 pairs of those super cheap black stretchy gloves and place them in a basket by the door. They're interchangeable and like 50 cents a pair. Otherwise we would never be able to keep up.

I think a toddler-size balaclava might work. He think it's a game trying to wrestle off any accessories I put on him. Our REI is having a sale this weekend, so I might go over there to see if I can find anything else.

                            Yes to the balaclava!

But do not confuse with toddler-sized baklava. Not as effective.
