(We've now transitioned to formula during the day. I got tired of pumping.)

She'll be 5 months on the 19th. See, I read on kellymom that they don't tend to need more total per day (19-30oz), they just get more at one time because they take fewer feedings. Maybe that's wrong?

She's in daycare from 8:15-3:15ish, so it's 2 bottles if we do every 3 hours (I feed her at 6:30, bottles at 9:30 and 12:30, and as soon as we get home at 3:30). I don't mind sending that much if she really needs it, I just want to make sure they're not overfeeding her.

        Gaining Weight

My son, at that age, no joke, ate 80+ oz of formula a day. Can you imagine what this kid eats now at 16, 6ft tall and a buck-eighty?

Literally 8 to 12 ounces at a time every 2-3 hours.

          Enh, fits and starts.

ALOY, I constantly feel like they're overfeeding at daycare. But he eats it, and I'm pretty sure if it was too much, he would refuse. He's certainly capable of that.

Yikes!!! I believe it, my ds eats 3-4 adult servings of each meal at 14 months. The ped asked me at his last appt whether I gave him enough to eat. ??!!
I'm terrified for the teen years.

            ETA: We're still breastfeeding too.

Our 9 month old can pack away the solids and she still is getting about 16oz of formula a day. Our 29 month old can pack it away if she wants - she has been known to eat a whole large plate of pasta from a restaurant One is in the 15th percentile, the other in the 85th.

I'll be interested to hear what the ped says at her appt!

I guess that's true. I think sometimes she gets super fussy and she really needs a nap, but it's easier to feed her.

I'm taking Reglan. Within three days I could tell that my supply increased; breasts felt heavier, started spraying milk at feedings, etc. I took Ds to lactation group and we confirmed that my supply had indeed increased. The lactation nurses recommended that I take Domperidone, but my doctor would only prescribe Reglan.

I am doing the Supplemental Nursing System, supplementing 2oz of formula per feeding three to four feedings per day, and Ds weight increased by 10 ounces in five days! Yay!

I agree on the over feeding. The few times I took C to daycare, she literally drank an entire extra bottle because instead of soothing her to sleep, they just fed her again. I know they have more kids in daycare but I still don't want her over fed.

Genuinely curious about this. What do you all mean by overfeeding? I fed on demand until 4 months, now we have a routine, but if DS doesn't want it he spits out the bottle or plays with it. His a very big boy but his height and weight are in sync.

You would have thought I was overfeeding Ryan, but nope. He was always thin. He was just born with a hyper-speed metabolism. He probably averages 5000 calories a day. Nonstop eating. Last month, when he had his wisdom teeth out, he lost 15 pounds in 4 days on a diet of pudding and soda. He's almost back up to fighting weight now. I used to be like this. I think I used up my lifetime metabolism supply by the time I was 18.

That's good to hear! Did you have any side effects from the Reglan?

I think sometimes she's fussy and needs to go to sleep, but instead of working with her to put her down, they'll give her a bottle. She may suck it for comfort, or they may not pay complete attention to her "full" cues.

Lol Heidi. I think C will be the same way. He has his Dad's broad shoulders and is growing out of his 12 month clothes already.
Thanks for the link ALOY. That's great to know. I hadn't thought of the bf/comfort feeding issues. I hope the reglan works for you!

N ate about 20 ounces a day with V. Four 5 oz bottles. But she was huge. That's the amount she ate from 2 months til we stopped around 10ish months though. (I just breast fed her at home after that)

I'm up 1.5oz today, I think, and I just started last night. Took 1 dose yesterday, will take 2 today, then 3 tomorrow and for the next 10 days before I wean off. And no crazy...yet. Anxious for tomorrow's weight check, but she really seems chunkier to me.
