Albee is having a huge Labor Day sale too. Check there. I'd bite at those prices.

We like the marathon that DD2 is now using (DD1 is now in a radian that she will use indefinitely).

Ugh, we need to buy another car seat too. We moved N to a Radian so Baby J can have her Britax seats and I really like the Radian. It's relatively easy to install. BUT GOOD GOD THEY ARE EXPENSIVE. Given how long she needs to be in a seat and how tall she is at 2.75, I can justify it, but these carseats are killing me. We don't even have any in DH's car, but we need some for the nanny.

We have two seats total. We are lucky that I work from home so nanny just used my car.

ST, would your nanny switch cars with you?

My mom just bought a seat for her car. I have no idea why, because we've had a base in her car since E was born, and we've used it all of maybe 3 times. I told her she could get a cheaper one if she really wanted, but she felt the need to get a Boulevard for herself.

T&S my commute is 60 miles round trip so it's not really an option. DH has no seats I his car though, which helps

We got Cosco Sceneras for backups. They're not super comfy but they're cheap and safe and easy to install correctly.

Those of you with Britax seats - how do you tether? To the front seat? Or to the back seat? Or not at all? The back seat looks like it would make it a huge pain to get her in and out.

Also, I'm debating moving her to the driver's side of the car. Any thoughts on that? I'm short, so I'm pretty sure she'd fit behind my seat, and it would save my walks around the car and give anybody who happens to ride with me extra room. I don't know why I didn't do that in the first place except I thought maybe occasionally somebody else might drive my car, but that hasn't happened yet.

For a rear facing kiddo in a Britax convertible seat? I don't tether, I just use the latch system. Is tether the same as anchor (?)

Yes, it's the anchor. It looks like I'm supposed to use a connector around the track from the front seat and tether to that (since my car doesn't have a floor anchor), or go over the top and tether to the back of the seat.

Hmm we never tethered until N was front facing. I swear the manual said it wasn't necessaryy

Rear facing tethering is a little tricky. Is there a car seat tech you can make an appointment with to help with the initial install?

I think this is a new thing, now that they're including the connector so that you can tether to anything? I'm not really sure. It seems like a pain either way, but obviously I don't want to jeopardize E's safety at all.

Yes, but only on Wednesdays. I may do that next week.

One more question - do I have to recline it fully (position 3), or can I put her a bit more upright, in position 2? This is so much more complicated to install than her infant seat!

Britax now requires rear-facing tether in Canada but not in the US. I have mine tethered to the front seat track, like you said. In my car it wasn't very hard. It also wasn't very hard in a rental car, but you should have seen my bloodied hand trying to get the damn thing off of said rental car.

I also just moved it from the middle seat of my car to the driver's side. I think that's probably moderately less safe, but it's so much easier to get him in and out there.

Edit: (cross-posted) Mine (a Marathon) has to be in position 3 rear-facing. The way it fits in my car, he ends up still being pretty upright.

Rear tethering has been around for over a decade - the US is just slow. It's required in Canada, Sweden, Australia, and other countries. The seat recline position really depends on how the car seat fits in your car's seat. You want it 30-45 degrees from ground, not seat, if that makes sense. You might be able to figure out the tether if you watch it on YouTube.
