I think I've gotten myself into a little dilemma. I know second babies are supposed to just roll with the punches, but Claire (who is now 12 weeks old , 7.5 weeks adjusted age) loves her naps. The problem started when M and dh were in Germany, and she was acting pissed off and cranky all day. I decided to let her briefly CIO in her crib so she'd learn to wind down/self soothe a little bit (up until then, she was sleeping either on the sofa next to me, or on the floor, on in a sling). She, like M, was giving me all the signs that she just wanted to sleep in her own bed. So by now, she's a pro at going to bed awake, falling asleep on her own, and staying asleep for a good 2.5 hours during the day. I swear I wasn't torturing my newborn with CIO.

So, it boils down to about 3 naps/day. Morning, early afternoon, and one from about 3-5pm.

The problem is, M has got a schedule too, and while C is mellow enough to take those naps in her car seat or on the go, she sleeps terribly at night when she doesn't get her motionless/crib sleep during the day.

What have I done?! Do I just get someone to watch C while I do drop offs and pick ups for M? It's kind of a ridiculous question, I know, but I got myself into this mess and need to get out of it.

D gets one solid bed nap a day while C is napping. All other naps are on the go. But mine are crappy sleepers no matter what...

I just don't have another way to do it and have C not miss out on everything! I can't hire another nanny so my first nanny can stay home with D while she naps.

If you could get someone to come during nap times that would be huge. Seriously, I would totally do that because it will make everyone's life better. You get a happy well rested baby that sleeps at night, time with M alone, and just a calmer day.

Dd's school is 2 blocks away. I think I'm gonna ask my next door neighbor to man the baby monitor during those 5 minutes that I'm at drop off/pick up. She has the keys to my house. This would fall into the range of normal parent behavior, right? Or am I misjudging what is allowable/legal?!

You mean her coming to your house for that time? Yes, that's great!

She would have to be in your house, baby monitor can't smell a gas leak. But that is a perfect solution.
