Now that I've day-weaned E and she's drinking cow's milk, I'd like to transition her off the bottle. Her pediatrician wants her off by 15 months. She currently gets 2 a day before her naps (not ideal, but this is the schedule that the daycare follows, and I don't want to deviate). She's capable of drinking out of straw cups and sippy cups, although for now we've really only done water, and she spits it out if she gets too much or gets tired of drinking. She's only spit out milk from the cups so far. I have some specific criteria that I'm looking for:

    1) Needs to be spill proof - I currently fill her bottles at night and put them in the fridge, throw them in her school tote in the morning, and throw that in the car to take her to school, so they get tossed around a bit. She also has a habit of throwing them.
    2) I'd like it to hold about 8 ounces.
    3) It needs to be easily cleaned in the dishwasher. I don't mind taking pieces off and putting them in our Munchkin basket.
    4) It can't be too expensive, because I'd like to buy 4-6 of them so I can continue to fill them at night and not wash them every day.

    Any recommendations?

I've yet to find a good straw cup that doesn't leak... I use Playtex Insulator cups, but the straws will leak sometimes.

Any of the cups in the Gerber Nuk line. These are good starters: http://www.babyearth.com/gerber-sip-...%5E54313852095

You can find several different shapes and sizes on Amazon. I've tried them all (literally) over the last 20 years and these have been the best. I've never had a leak AND most importantly the child can actually get the milk out.

This is a good deal but this size may be too big for E right now:

These trainers may be the best place to start:

So they are expensive, but the safe sippys with the straw are my favorite. They last forever...not so much on anything else I've tried. I have one that is 2 years old that looks brand new. Bonus is they are stainless steel

I've seen them on Overstock, I don't remember the price but might be worth checking out.

Oh and I hate the Nuk ones. Every single one we've ever tried has leakes

I haven't found one that doesn't leak yet either. You just have to replace them (TJMaxx) because my kids chew on them and it ruins the seals.

Weird, we've used them for 18 years and never a single leak.

But only the ones with these inserts: http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B000RFAAEO/ref=pd_aw_sims_1?pi=SS115&simLd=1

We've had better luck with real sippy cups than straw cups, because my son will start to drink from the straw enough to get past the seal and then stop, so the extra milk spills, if that makes any sense. And then with our last straw cup, he managed to chew off the top of the straw, which freaked me out a bit. Honestly, I just got some insulated Playtex sippy cups at CVS because that was all they had, and they've been great.

Like pollyanna said, the only ones I've found to be leak proof are gerber graduates.
