    High school? Holy cow, Sally.

In my perfect world, school would go through the end of June (weather isn't good anyway) and start at the end of September. That or go year round. I'm sure the superintendent of schools will be calling me any minute for my opinion on that.

I think they got out around the same time. I'm sure the school year works out - I'd just hate to be the kid starting tomorrow when the Denver or Cherry Creek schools right next door aren't starting for two more weeks.

My mom teaches at a multi-track year round school. It's kind of chaotic for her because she covers all four tracks, but otherwise she likes it. I think year round school is a really good idea.

I think DS starts back at preschool on 9/8. He'll only be back for 3 days before we leave for a vacation.

We're trying to decide between a year-round and traditional schedule next year. It would be nice to have him off during the spring and fall when the weather is so nice here.

School starts here aug 26. Ds will be in first grade, dd in K...and other dd preschool two days a week. I'm looking forward to the two days a week I'll have by myself...but quite honestly, I'm not even sure what to do?? It's been babies, bottles, diapers, potty training, entertaining toddlers, arguing, activities for 6 years...24/7. Now...alone? Quiet? No one to wait on? Annoy me with questions? Argue? Fight? Back talk?
What to do, what to do? I'm kind of nevous/scared, actually.

We start here on Aug 26th also. Taking one last trip before all hell breaks loose. Heading down to Cincinnati for 4 days. Haven't bought a lick of school supplies but have the back to school clothes covered.

I think you'll find that once you drop off, run an errand or two, stop by your house to throw in a load of laundry it will be already time for pick-up. On the plus side, those errands will be much faster when you are solo.

Hang in there, once they all hit school is when life really gets kinda crazy.

                  1st grade & Kindergarten!!

My two oldest went off to school today!
                  Adam said:
"Mom I am a big kid now, because the class I am in has the word "grade" ...Sophia's still sorta of young because her class is just kindergarten."

This is their 3rd year of all day school, it is Sophie's first foray into the public school system. She was a bit overwhelmed by how big the school was. Adam looked up at his dad while Z was taking photos of him in his new classroom, and said "Dad you can leave now."
Wow...they were just babies in my double stroller 4 years ago!

Tess woke early to see her siblings off and sleepy-head Laith just came down! It's sooo nice and quiet! Up until know everyone has been cooped up due to extreme weather(hellish heat) and nerves have become a bit frayed, so school really couldn't have come sooner, here in the valley.
I wish they would give the kids their longest break in the winter months, so they could play outside all day & not be at each others throats!

All three stooges started school today. I have a quiet house, coffee in hand, and slightly shell-shocked pets.

It's all sorts of and around here today.

One more week. We meet the teachers on Friday. and of course, by "We" I mean me the quasi-single parent and my parents who will be in from Maryland. The OTHER parent will of course be at Ft. Hood.

Can I mention that anyone who has ever heard and wondered about that phrase "white hot rage"? Turns out its TRUE. I think the look I shot him scared the crap out of him because he's spent the last two days trying to reschedule the patients at Ft. Hood. Yeah, whatever-so your kid has seizures. MY kid starts kindergarten.

                      I'm a bad, bad person.

I understand white-hot rage. Actually, my picture may be beside it in the dictionary.

The kids started today. it was incredibly bittersweet. The end of the summer felt like we were reeling out of control, teetering on the brink of catastrophes. As much as I hate to admit it, we need the rythem to return to our lives.

I didn't cry until after drop off. DS started fourth grade and DD started full day "prekindergarten" four days a week. (We are calling it "prekindergarten" even though she attends a montessori school as a kindergartner. ) We're keeping our options open for a second kindergarten year.

Sally, you're the last person on this site whose picture I would expect to see next to "white-hot rage". If you're that rageful, I shudder to think at what I am!!!

Thanks, Jenn.....I have my moments like anyone else. I don't mean the garden variety low-grade annoyance that makes you crabby (although I have had that, too) but over the past six months, the low-grade stuff has diminished and the white hot rage (where you get angry so fiercely and quickly that it feels like your head is evaporating) has increased. I have mostly kept it under control, or at least I have kept from losing it with the kids, but it affects me.....I grind my teeth, eat, or allow my thoughts to spiral to all things negative. The catalysts have been the teenager, DH's schedule, and some other things about life over which I have no control. Especially DH's schedule. I have hit some kind of wall with it after the summer......but he is scaling back a little starting in September, so hopefully there will be no reports of a mother going postal in a rural community west of Indianapolis any time soon!

Sally, I am sorry things are so crazy right now. I hope Sept comes quickly for you.

We are a week into school and I couldn't be happier. I was worried about DD#2 acclimating to all-day kindergarten and DD#1 transitioning to a new classroom. Both are doing really well so far. Last year at this time, DD wouldn't get on the bus and I had to drive her in my pjs. They both have great teachers. Now she is saying, "I love school and I made a new friend". As we speak, DD#3 and I are sitting in bed watching Dora. This is the life.
