    Too cute!

The boy Jack I used to watch (not so little anymore). Said something about how the tooth fairy brought him $5 but someone at school only got a dollar. I tried to explain that it must have been a different tooth (because yah know different teeth are worth different amounts) or otherwise he probably got more because he kept his teeth cleaner (because those are more valuable too!)

I'm not sure I would shell out that much money for it, but I might come up with a home made version. I like the tooth chart they can fill it. Too cute!
Annie, I love that site - they have the cutest things, though are kind of pricey sometimes.

I love the tooth stories - I'm just waiting for A's to come IN at this point.

I think I'm going to have to have a chat with the other moms when the time comes just to make sure that something like that doesn't happen.
Oh, Jenn just wait, the kids collude with each other on allowance. I was told that $6 a week was well under the average allowance of most of DS's fourth grade friends who get about $10. Sorry buddy, I think $6 a week is outrageous as it is.

Eeek, we would be paying well under that then. We pay each kid per month their age. So Em will get a raise to $8 in January, and Brig just had a raise to $6 a month. Their job money is contigent on if they do their jobs the entire month.

As far as the tooth fairy. We do $1. We have told our kids that the tooth fairy has different contracts with different families.

Last year in Brig's K class, during Mother's Day week, the kids were making cards for the teachers and their moms. One of the kids said "Mrs. F I am going to write "Mom you are sexy." in the card" I had a hard time to keeping a straight face.

I like both of these ideas. We may be old fashioned mizers but DrK and I do not think it's good for kids to have too much cash even if mom and dad can afford to be generous. MIL is probably going to freak when she sees how "deprived" our kids will be -- in other words, no TV's in their bedrooms, no six-figure bar mitzvah, no new car for a 16th birthday. . . She once very dramatically told us that we cannot live that way when we opted not to subscribe to cable TV. I don't think it will be long before Baby K learns to go to Grandma K for indulgences. Meanwhile, my mom will be buying Baby K's birthday gifts at the dollar store.

This is how I was raised.. No TV in the bedroom, No Cable T.V. in the house (A cable company once came to our house and told us we were the only ones in the entire neighborhood with out it.) If I wanted to do something that was "frivolous" I had to earn the money myself for it. I think it was good to be raised having to work for what you want. I have so many friends that were given everything they wanted and they have no idea how to manage their spending habits and lifestyle.

When I was little, my allowance was $2, then $3 a week, and I remember being so proud when I saved up enough money to buy things. I also ended up buying a lot of "junk", though, instead of saving up for the more expensive toys that didn't break in a couple days... When I was in high school, the allowance stopped, but I had chores I could do to earn up to $20 a week. (I also had chores I did with no pay, just contributing to the household.) I was involved in a lot of extracurricular activities, so some weekends when I was out of town or really busy, my sister could do my extra chores, and she'd earn $40 that week. These were the chores that, until we got into high school, Mom paid a cleaning lady to come for once a week, so there wasn't any difference in the family budget, and we loved having the opportunity to have that much spending money.

I also didn't have a TV in my room for a long time growing up. When I got one, because we lived in the country and had a weird satellite/antenna setup, I could only watch what my parents were watching in the living room, so I usually just left it off.
