I don't think you were manipulated. It sounds to me like you took her feelings seriously. That sounds like kindness to me. It was important to her to go to the party.

In the future I would encourage you to not tell kiddos when parties start or even that there is one until almost the actual day. Lots of things come up and you don't want your life to compete with birthday parties all the time. Because really at this age there are far too many parties.Tara

Oh she knows more about this party then I do. She knew about it before I even mentioned it to her, it must be all they've been talking about at school.
But it doesn't matter now, I'm spending the morning treating her for lice! UGH!!Wife to NSG out of training, mom to 2, 10 & 8, and a beagle with wings.

Everything I have read says she can go back to school/activities once she has been treated so she is going. Our school doesn't have a no nits policy, they say once they're treated she can participate like normal.
Is that not the norm?
We treated her with the medicated shampoo this morning and use the nit pick - I found a few live ones but no eggs, which I thought was odd. I'm wondering if that means she did get it from the close contact last night and we caught it early. She was in the back of an SUV with 10 other kids eating pizza for almost an hour last night. MIL also says they checked her nightly and they never found any eggs either, she was with them until Tuesday.
I am SO glad we cut her hair!Wife to NSG out of training, mom to 2, 10 & 8, and a beagle with wings.

Changing Schools
We just dealt with lice a few weeks ago. *shudder*
Our school says they can go back once they are nit-free.
The medicated shampoo (Nix) didn't work for us and I barely found any lice or eggs using the nit comb. I thought we were good until I found live lice again two days after treatment!
I ended up taking all of my kids to a local boutique that treats lice ... that's all they do! And I could not BELIEVE how many lice and nits they got out of DD's hair, I could barely find any. They had to get out a microscopic lens to show me just how small some of the nits can be, there's NO WAY I could have removed all of them at home by myself. Just be vigilant, is all I'm saying! Good luck, lice is the worst!!!~Jane

On the up side, she didn't infect the prospective school! . We haven't dealt with Lice, but I already decided if we ever do, I will go to the Lice people immediately for help. I hope you're able to get rid of it fast.

If you're going to the party you might not want to mention the lice...honestly I'd be pissed if someone brought their child to a party before they knew they were in the clear. It seems my sil had to take my niece to the health department for a check before she could return to school. This was about 10 years ago though.Tara

She's already at the party, I told her not to mention it but you know how kids are. I checked her right before she left and didn't see anything.
Just got out of her parent teacher conference and it's just clouded my school decision even more. Her teacher talked on and on about what a delight she is to have in class, how she's always contributing, seems happy and is about the middle of the class educationally so far.
I don't know what we'll do, UGH!!Wife to NSG out of training, mom to 2, 10 & 8, and a beagle with wings.
