    I think your gut is right, K. Yes, there are plenty of assholes in the world, but it's important for your DD to see that kiddie injustice matters in the adult world and she will be watching you to learn how we deal wtih those injustices. I would just go through the more official channels...teacher, guidance counselors, etc. since this mom is an unknown entity.

    I think our school does a better-than-average job, but I'm disappointed in the messages that my daughter has received regarding "nice" versus "shutup and don't rock the boat." She has these completely mixed up, but that's a whole other thread. Its' something that's been on a mind a lot lately too. Ultimately, I don't know if the school and I will see eye-to-eye on this, but I will go with my gut. Nice and quiet are not interchangeable. In fact, I hate the word nice. Kindness is completely different, and hard to teach the difference. Obviously, based on your DD's behavior and choices you've laid a solid foundation for that.
