Our school in AZ would mail teacher assignments on a Friday and then keep the office closed until the first day of school (which was like 3-4 days). It was brilliant and forced parents to just let the school year start before they started freaking out about the classroom assignment.

Great. This should be very interesting when it comes time to enroll my kiddos. The food allergy plan in the classroom hinges on teacher involvement before my kid even steps through the door. This should be fun, good thing I've got a year.

I think given your circumstances you will be move involved in the choice of classes. They have to be tough because many parents throw a fit because little Sally wants to be in class with Jenny, or Ms. Smith is mean, your concerns have to do with the safety and wellbeing of your child. Completely different.

Let's hope so. My wants are simple: I want the teacher most experienced in recognizing and responding to anaphylaxis. So far though, after having conversations with our school district, I'm expecting to have to fight for the 504 which they don't feel is necessary. (This is why my kid is staying in her Montessori for K). As you all know though, I've accepted being "that mom" if it keeps my kids alive. Sorry for the hijack!!

^if there was ever a good reason to be "that mom", that's it.

We don't have assignments yet either. So frustrating because the two possibilities likely have different school supply lists. Our tax free weekend was last weekend, so I bought them for one of the classes. Just my luck DD will be assigned to the other...

We got the "good" teacher, who is co-teaching with another long time school favorite. I don't know who's in the class yet, but I am looking forward to meeting his teacher.

I think there is only one (maybe 2) pre-k teachers.

Does that make me a bad mom that it never even occurred to me to care about her teacher?

Crap I should probably get her school supplies.

I think I'm so consumed by returning to work (end of maternity leave) and adjusting to our new sitters, and preschool that I haven't really thought about the details.

I am not worried about it either but I have an average child who will be fine in pre-k. I think the concern comes in if you have a child who may have special educational needs and ensuring those are properly met.
