She said it was fun-- not as fun as last year but she still had a good time. Once she got into the gym (homecoming is in the gym- yuck) everything was good. She knows lots of people, so she found people to hang with right away. Going in was tough. No one was around though- just the ticket takers. She said that was "awkward" but no biggie.

I know that if that happened to me I would've stated home. She is very brave! Proud mommy moment.

I'm sorry Peggy. I'm pretty convinced that we never really leave middle school in some ways.

Slight hijack. I just went on a community wide GS camp out with girls from every age from this town. The girls were fabulous. Some of the women were horrible. Seriously, one tried to engage me in a conversation about who were the pretty, popular and smart second graders. Holy shit, WTF is wrong with women? Why do we do this to each other?

Awww I know what you mean... even though not over 35 lol. I think when she gets there she will probably hang out with her real friends that went with their boyfriends. That's how it was at my prom, people hung out in groups... but it sucked because my bf at the time didn't dance ugh.

Good for you for not letting this b.s. ruin her night. She clearly is strong because of your influence!

Peggy, I'm so happy to hear that K went anyway, how mature and confident of her! Girls made my life miserable in mid and high school. Why doesn't this crap ever change?

One of my friends from HS tried to 'turn' a group of girls against me. It pissed me off but I just went about my day as usual. I had some friends who supported me and truly my whole thought was "THIS is why I'm going to college." Was quite a motivator in fact.

As is turned out, she ended up looking really stupid and apologized (publicly) and we're still friends. She was later diagnosed with bi-polar disorder and when she told me my only answer was, "Duh."

Man, I so remember those days from high school. It sounds like she has a lot of self-confidence, which is a beautiful thing. You couldn't pay me enough money to go back and relive those years.
