That's why you can't be home on cleaning lady day. EVER.

I walk in the door and the house looks fab. (At least the part we live in, she's slowly tackling the rest of the house but my never ending paint projects keep getting in the way)

Laundry is washed and folded and put away, kitchen is spotless, floors are clean and washed.

I do have a trainer but she's become a really good friend, too. I'm basically paying my friend to abuse me.

        I would like someone to:
-fold and put away the laundry
        -clean the turtle tank
        -clean the bathroom
        -run errands
        -cook
        It would be nice!
I would feel weird having a cleaning lady around too. Everyone has cooks and cleaning ladies in Brazil. I felt really weird around them!

I agree, although our new place will have an in-unit washer and dryer. That is already something I consider luxurious! No more hunting around for quarters!

Just someone to come by once a week and clean the bathrooms and dust. That is all. The rest I kind of like doing. Maybe I am strange.
Also, someone to do my grocery shopping! Although, if money were object I would prefer to pay someone to watch J while I shopped at Whole Foods

If $$ were no object - I'd pay to have the groceries delivered to the house, and have someone come over and cook *OR have the chef bring his own groceries!

Speaking of Whole Foods - they just opened a new, fancy one in Chicago...I'm dying to go!

                I forgot to add earlier...

Movers - the kind who pack all of your stuff for you and you do nothing but eat bon bons on moving day.

Then cleaners to clean up the place we are leaving.

My experience is that you stand in the middle of the room and try to monitor every single thing they touch:

                        1) packed cat? check
                        2) broken furniture? check
                        3) house/car keys thrown away in the middle of the chaos? check
                        4) bag of every single screw for every single piece of furniture that requires them lost forever because idiot movers wouldn't give me the bag? check

there are no bon bons with movers.

I have to agree with Jenn. Our only horrible move was the one with professional movers. Until then, we never had anything broken, lost or late. Paid 10K (by employer!) and had all three happen in a few days - with disputes lingering for months afterwards since they broke the beveled glass mirrors on an antique piece of furniture and then spent months to have it appropriately restored....only to end up giving me a regular slab of mirror improperly attached. Give me friends, a rental truck, pizza and beer over "professionals" any day.

Sorry to hijack to the moving topic...but I have to share

We are moving in 5 days. We thought we would be thrifty and get a pod. We got it, were so proud of ourselves for saving. We almost killed eachother....literally, while carrying furniture and trying to jam it into the pod.

40% full...we looked at the pod the two of us had packed with ALL of our furniture and realized it would not fit. We spent the next day unpacking... and putting our furniture back together. Though we can not afford it...we hired movers.

Our closest med school friends also initially chose to move themselves as well. He is going into orthopedics. He crushed two fingers while moving a couch...and had an 8 hour visit to the ER.
....this confirmed our decision to hire movers.

As for additional luxuries I would LOVE to have:
Definately a housekeeper- one that I can stand to be around while they are cleaning, and amazingly would choose nothing else as a profession. (hence...no guilt)
Chauffer for nights out...I love my martinis, and wine...etc
On board with the dog trainer, groomer, walker
                            Laundry service
                            Massage once week
I love to cook, so a chef to come in a help me improve my knife cutting skills!

Does anyone want to come over and put away the laundry on the dining room table? I'll pay you!

For all the grocery delivery wishes...it isn't the least expensive place for groceries for sure but I think the Safeway around here delivers. Or they did. Maybe $10 charge? One of the local stores here delivers for a $10 fee but they send a monthly email with a coupon that offsets the fee. When I have my act together and can plan ahead to make an order, I love it.

I would love to hire someone to help with a landscape plan for our front yard. I have lots of ideas, not all are good ones.

ITA about the movers Miss Martini. When we bought our first house, my parents gift to us was movers. It was local and we didn't have much stuff and it cost around $200. Thank you mom and dad!

Nellie, you should dump your laundry on your bed! This way you can't even go to bed at night until it's all folded. It really sucks, but the work gets done...
