I tried to get the fake stainless steal but it wasn't available. I hate cleaning stainless but its versatile and matches with any appliances, cabinets, etc. I don't know what our remodel will look like yet so I gotta keep my options open.

We also have a build-in, so our replacement options are very limited. Our Sub-Zero is 12 yrs old and had everything but the compressor replaced in that time. In the past 4 yrs that we've owned it, the repair guy was here 4 times. And those parts are not cheap.

The stainless steel on our current fridge stays cleaner much longer than on those in previous houses. I don't use any different cleaner, so maybe the newest ones are make a little differently? I know that sounds weird, but nothing in my household has changed and I don't have to constantly wipe this one down.

I have a Viking that I can't stand. It's big, but it seems to have very limited capacity at the same time. The produce drawer freezes all my produce and some of the meat, and I don't know if that's something that can be fixed or just a design flaw of the fridge, the other things in the fridge don't freeze, so the temperature isn't too cold, it's ridiculous. It also does not have water in the door, which I would really like and would use frequently. All the appliances in the kitchen are Viking, and I have to say that I am not very impressed at all.

I think there are different grades of stainless. My mom's fridge was a bitch to clean. I have a Leibherr, and it stays pretty clean for a long time, and isn't too bad to get the prints off, but still a pain. Our Thermador ovens and dishwasher?? The SS is super smooth and when it gets dirty, it takes two seconds to wipe and polish. If only all SS were like that!!

Has anyone seen the new white fridges in person? I think it might be a smooth, clear surface with white undercoating? Or maybe just a smooth, glossy white?

YEP! This is my issue. How can something so big be so poorly conceived in terms of layout??

All of these are the exact concerns we have for our next fridge - I hate our current built in, we're getting the higher end of the good brands rather then going with the Subzero or the Viking. I don't need a "name" on my appliances!

Let me suggest a GE No Frost Fridge with the freezer on the bottom, sporting a built in ice maker, built circa 1982. This f#&ker will not die. Particularly not while it is under warranty so I can get a new one for free!
