So I need to buy a dishwasher. Like, today.

I actually liked our Whirlpool (cleaned well), but after crapping out at 18 months, forget about buying another one like it.

Anyone have a mid-range one (under $500 would be awesome) they love? I don't want to spend a whole lot, but it will be us using it for the next 5 years, so I want it to be decent.

    And preferably smudge free stainless.

I've had the best luck with my Kenmore appliances in the past, and I've heard great things about Bosch. I don't see much in the $500 range though.

ST, look at Heidi's recs, and see if that Sears outlet has one.

We bought a midrange Bosch from Sears. It SUCKS. Like, the worst thing I've ever owned. So, don't do that.

I have no good advice for midrange. We've made a promise to buy the best we can or just get the best low cost model we can if it doesn't merit a big payout. The midrange feels dangerous to me.

You could always do a frigidaire (short term fix).
We've had three of them, and they run okay.

I think for under $500, your best bet is to do the cheapest one possible.

Maybe we spend more then. We're gonna be here 5-7 years.

Maybe we should spring for a higher end Whirlpool. It was really a great dishwasher as far as cleaning goes

We always did well with Kenmore. Stay away from Fisher Paykel, if you want to keep your sanity intact and bank balance positive.

My parents had 2 fisher paykel money pits. No thanks

I'm pretty sure that Whirlpool makes some of the Kenmore dishwashers. We like Whirlpool but also had a Kitchen-aide in our AZ home that was 15 years old and only needed one repair in all that time.

We just bought a slightly dented Bosch at the Sears outlet for $600. I spent all of 10 min looking. Just don't care as long as it works!

I wouldn't either in your situation. A dishwasher is a necessity! I hope it lasts!

I have only heard great things about Bosch! We would have gotten that brand but we got a discount package deal from Thermador. (which is also awesome, for future reference for anyone)

I would be *livid* about the other dishwasher. That's total crap.

So I've heard the drying cycle kind of sucks on Bosch models in general, but it is a super quiet model.
