  • Reclaimed Wood Farmhouse Table

    http://ogtstore.com/antique-furnitur...rned-legs.html

I want this table, about 10' long. Any thoughts on where I could find it for less than $3k? I really don't want to pay that much.

We've been looking for 5 years and have yet to find one that's affordable.

If you do, please send me the info!

Look on Craig's list. I found people in both our last city, and this one that made them - usually for less than 3K.

I ended up just buying one from pottery barn bc I had a TON of gift cards. But it's freaking PINE (I didn't realize when I ordered), which I'm sure will be a disaster if we ever have kids.

Anyway, there is great local place I could recommend here, but wouldn't do you much good.

Sorry, missed the reclaimed part . The place I was thinking of is new furniture.

We built one last Friday for about $200 worth of wood using the below plans. We've used a distressing approach (tea, dissolved steel wool in vinegar) that is taking a few days and then doing poly. It's going to be AWESOME. We can't do the turned legs (need a laithe) but you can do rustic solid legs.

I'm fairly certain you could commission a carpenter to do this in 1-2 days.

I haven't, sadly. We stayed at a condo in VA this summer that was decorated with Restoration Hardware. The dining table was 10' solid salvaged wood and was stunning. I want it so bad.

I agree with trying to find a woodworker in your city; it will still be expensive but maybe less so.

We must see pictures when you're done!!! Pretty sure I've seen turned legs you can order online. Yep: http://www.tablelegs.com/Legs.aspx

Yeah - no pine. It's a bad idea. Something in a harder wood for sure with kids etc. We already have marks on ours and we are absurdly careful.

So funny that so many of us have thought about this table. For me, I think that it represents perminance/stability after so long as a medical nomad. I want a big table that can be the center of our home, someplace where our children and friends and our children's friends can gather but informal enough for the kids to make play doh on.....

This. Pine is crazy soft. Our kitchen table is mahogany and it's held up really well.

My sister has a guy that made her TV wall shelf. Here is a horrible picture, but you get the point. She can give you his name if you want. You just have to be VERY specific with him. IE what color, shape, size. Everything. But he is very nice and great to work with.

Yes. Please get me that info.

I found this guy on Craigslist. http://kansascity.craigslist.org/fuo/4692631644.html Thoughts? What questions should I ask?

Ooh, I like that!! References? Maybe see if he has a sample table? That's a great price. I foolishly hired a woodworker to finish up some things in the house we built that the original builder either botched or simply didn't do...and I didn't ask for references. All I did was look at her photos (which looked great) and she did SUCH a shitty job on my stuff. She was so proud too. Yikes.
