Oh, and it sounds like neither the cost nor the timeline will be as bad as I was initially told. They told me before that we would be living in our basement for 6 weeks. Now they are saying 2-3 weeks for the laundry (which displaces K1 and maybe me and DrK) and then about 4-5 days for the flooring. We can handle the basement for a week.
The worst of this is that my real estate lawyer background is making everyone crazy. The decorator and contractors are all kind of vague about a lot of things. Everything is estimated or approximate or “not too expensive.” I want every little detail down to the phone number of the person who is doing the construction clean up, renting the dumpster, etc. all in writing. They just aren’t going to do that and if I insist, I’ll scare them away from the project all together.
